Once again the summer saw many comings and goings. 15 players left the club with 9 coming in, including David Dunn & Tomas Pekhart as well as Goncalves rejoining on loan for another season.

We kicked off the season away to Gillingham. This was a really poor game from both sides. The only notable thing to happen was Oros being sent off on his debut and it finished 0-0. Our first home game was against Colchester. We played much better in thus game. van den Berg put us 1-0 up in the first half before Pekhart scored his first for the club before the hour mark. Colchester pulled one back to make for a nervous end to the game, but we managed to hold on for a 2-1 win.

We travelled to Bristol Rovers next. Brooker gave is an early lead, but it was all downhill from there. Rovers equalised shortly after to make it 1-1 at half time. Rovers took the lead just after half time before an own goal sealed their 3-1 win. A really poor performance. We looked to bounce back at home to Stephen's QPR. An even but uneventful first half saw us go in at 0-0. The second half was much the same as the first half and it finished 0-0.

It was League Cup duty when Southend came calling. We took the lead mid way through an even first half when Craddock scored. The second half was very even with both sides having chances to score but we held on to win 1-0. Carlisle were the visitors next. we fell behind early on before Pekhart equalised with a cracking free kick. Brooker then out us in the lead before Carlisle equalised on half time. Carlisle scored late on before Easton equalised with less than 10 minutes to go to make the final score 3-3.

It was MK Dons away next. We played well in the first half and went in 1-0 up thanks to Dunn. The second half was a disaster. We lost an early goal to make it 1-1 and then conceded a second with 20 minutes to go. We tried hard to get an equaliser but couldn't manage it and lost 2-1. It was another away game as we travelled to Southend. We had another shocker and lost 1-0. We finished the night at home to Chesterfield. We played pretty well in the first half but our lack of cutting edge showed and we went in 1-0 down. We destroyed them in the second half and eventually got the equaliser thanks to van den Berg. We continued to press looking for the winner only to be hit on the counter attack and lose 2-1.

We have had a terrible start to the season and currently sit 22nd after 8 games. Any chance of promotion looks to have gone already.

Thursday's session saw us start at home to Stockport. This was a pretty dull match between 2 even teams. Neither side managed to create any good chances and the game finished 0-0. It was league cup duty next when Sheffield Wednesday were the visitors. We had the best of the first half but couldn't find a goal and went in level. We played even better and took the lead through Gow with 8 minutes to go. Wednesday threw everything at us but we held firm and went through 1-0.

It was away to Taz's Stevenage next. Stevenage had the best of the first half but it remained goalless at half time. Stevenage were the better side in the second half and took the lead just after the hour mark. It looked as if we would lose again until Mazzola's deflected shot somehow found the net. We held on after that for a 1-1 draw. It was back to league duty when Swansea came calling. We put in another really poor performance and were 2-0 down a t half time. We played better in the second half but never really looked like scoring and lost 2-0.

We went to Brighton looking to turn around a dismal run of results. We played much better in this game, but again we couldn't score. Fortunately we managed to keep a clean sheet and we came away with a 0-0 draw. After a break for international matches we resumed away to Bristol City. We had an absolute shocker and lost 5-1, with our goal coming from Pekhart. To cap off a shocking performance Mazzola was sent off in stoppage time.

It was a home match with Brentford next. I should really just copy and paste comments from previous reports. We played well fro 93 minutes but could not score. Then Brentford scored a free kick in the 94th minute to win 1-0. It was League Cup duty next as we travelled to Swansea. We lost 3-0 while playing really poorly again. We went searching for a win when we went to Bradford. We didn't find it and got hammered 3 -0. We returned to Swansea in the JPT. We played better and even took the lead thanks to Grimes. Unfortunately it didn't last and we lost 2-1.

It was home to Chris' Doncaster side. We played well in the first half and went in 1-0 up thanks to Pekhart. Second half Doncaster came at us but we held firm and we won our first game in ages 1-0. We finished the session at home to Wycombe. We went 2-0 up thanks to Brooker. We looked to be cruising until Wycombe scored with 2 minutes to go. We held on to win 2-1. This left us in 23rd place after 17 games. Hopefully these last 2 results will help to turn our season around.

Thursday's session saw us start away to the Met Police in the FA Cup, a tie that should be a formality. That's how it turned out. A Brooker double and 1 from Dunn made it 3-0 at half time. We continued to press in the second half but couldn't find any more goals and had to settle for a 3-0 win. It was Tranmere at home as we resumed league duty. We fell behind inside 7 minutes only for Brooker to equalise 60 seconds later. Goals from Hunter and Pekhart put us 3-1 up before Tranmere pulled one back before half time. Pekhart got his second just after half time. This looked to have settled it until Tranmere scored with 2 minutes to go. We managed to hold on and win 4-3, although the score line did not reflect our superiority.

It was Swindon away next. This was a pretty poor game with neither side really dominating and it finished goal less. It was back to FA Cup duty next as we played host to Wrexham. Goals in the first and last 60 seconds of the first half from Pekhart & Brooker saw us go in 2-0 up. We dominated the second half and the win was sealed when Brooker scored with 4 minutes to go to make it 3-0.

It was Hartlepool away next. We played poorly in the first half and went in 1-0 down. The difference after half time was unbelievable as Pekhart and Brooker scored to turn it around. Both sides had chances after that but we managed to hold on and win 2-1. We played host to Cheltenham next We played really well and won 2-0 thanks to goals from Pekhart and Smith. We travelled to Crystal Palace next. We played well in this game, as did Palace, but neither side could find a breakthrough and it finished 0-0.

We played host to Burnley next. This was another great performance. Brooker opened the scoring before Pekhart doubled the lead with a stunning free kick. We continued to play well but couldn't find a third and had to settle for a 2-0 win. It was another home game next when Gillingham came to visit. We played really well in the first half and took the lead thanks to Smith. We had a few injuries in the second half and this resulted in Gillingham scoring an equaliser. We had a couple of chances to snatch a winner but had to settle for a point.

We travelled to Colchester next where I was to serve a touchline ban. We were unlucky to lose this game 2-1, with Brooker scoring, as we played well for long periods. It was Bristol Rovers at home next. We bounced back in fine style. We totally outplayed them from start to finish. Pekhart scored twice with Mazzola scoring in between to make the final score 3-0. It was back to FA Cup duty when we hosted Sheffield Wednesday. This was a poor game with little chances created by either side. We lost to a scrappy goal just before half time.

Hopefully we can keep up the good recent form next time and make a late push for the play offs.

Following my last post there was 8 games left of the season and we where 5th in the league after a great run of form following the Christmas period. In the last 8 games we played quite well but didn’t get as many points as we perhaps deserved and with 2 games automatic promotion was gone but we looked good for a playoff place only needed 2 points from them games but only getting a point from the penultimate game made for a nerve jangling last game and we went one goal down early on but we dominated the rest of the game and won comfortable to secure a playoff place. We where up against Bradford in the semi finals, in the 1st leg at home it finished 1-1 and in the 2nd leg it finished 2-1 to us with a late winner (3-2 on agg), into the final up against Swindon and with everybody fit we cruised to victory and there for getting promoted. It took 4 seasons of nearly but finally we made it to the championship. In the pre-season my board made the great decision to sell 2 of my best players for crap money, but this did at least give me some money to spend but with no body wanting to come to me we went into the start of the season with a weaker team than when I finished the previous season, so I knew it was going to be a difficult season.
Up to the January transfer window we where about where I expected us to be just above the relegation places about 20th, we have played quite well but not picked up as many points as we deserved only getting draws where we may have deserved a win, this is mainly due to only having 1 goal scorer at the club in Jarman who has consistently scores 20+ goals a season but if he doesn’t score no one does so with a few million in the bank I decided to splash the cash and in the transfer window I brought in 2 strikers and a defender for about £1.9m combined the biggest being £1.2m on Moses a England U-21 striker, maybe a risk but I felt if we where to avoid relegation we needed more fire power and it would be well worth it if we did. And he didn’t take long to show what he had scoring on his debut and after 6 games he has scored 4 goals not a bad start and the results reflected this along with a fantastic 6nil win against playoff chasers Sheff Utd. With about 10 games left we are about 10 points above relegation and I feel maybe 2 or 3 wins will see us safe and with us expected to finish rock bottom it can be thought as a very good season.

We started Thursday's session away to Carlisle. We started well and Brooker gave us the lead after 20 minutes. We continued to play well but Carlisle equalised just before half time. Into the second half and Easton restored our lead after only 6 minutes. We dominated the rest of the game but couldn't manage to score a third and had to settle for a 2-1 win. It was home to Stan's MK Dons next. We went behind early on after our keeper made a mistake. Brooker equalised before Smith scored to put us 2-1 up at half time. Mazzola extended the lead 10 minutes into the second half. MK Dons pulled one back late on but we managed to hold on and win 3-2.

We travelled to second placed QPR next. We played well but lost 1-0 to a goal mid way through the first half. It was another away game when we played Stockport. We were awful in the first half and were lucky to only go in 1-0 down. We were not a lot better in the second half and lost 2-0. Our third consecutive away game was against Chesterfield. We has another shocker and lost 2-0.

We then played Taz's Stevenage. We took the lead when Mazzola scored a screamer after 27 minutes. Ricketts extended our advantage just before the hour mark. Stevenage pulled one back 7 minutes later. Brooker looked to have sealed it with 8 minutes to go. Stevenage pulled another back with 2 minutes to go but we held on to win 3-2. Southend were the visitors next. We went 2-0 down inside the first 30 minutes before Brooker pulled one back on half time. We went 3-2 down immediately after the restart. Ramirez scored with just under 25 minutes to go. We were awarded a penalty in stoppage time which Robson missed and we lost 3-2. At this rate we are either going to get relegated or I am going to get fired.

We were away to Swansea next. We struggled again and lost 2-1 with Ramirez scoring our goal. We looked to bounce back at home to Brighton. We played much better and won 2-0 thanks to Ramirez and Asaad. It was Wycombe away next. We got off to a shocking start as Robson was sent off inside 60 seconds. We then conceded a penalty which our keeper saved it. Wycombe took the lead after 15 minutes and I feared the worst. Brooker equalised just before half time. The second half was fairly even. Brooker scored what turned out to be the winner with 15 minutes to go for a fine victory. This left us in 14th place with 10 games to go. We are in no mans land as we are 8 points from the play offs and 8 points from the drop.

Monday's session started with us playing host to Bristol City. We played really well in this game but a combination of poor finishing and poor defending saw us lose 2-1, our goal coming from Mazzola. We travelled to Brentford next. We were outstanding in the first half and went in 2-0 up thanks to Brooker and Craddock. The second half was shocking and we lost 3 goals to make the final score 3-2. This result pretty much summed up our season.

We travelled to bottom of the table Tranmere next. We bounced back in style with a comfortable 3-0 win thanks to Craddock, Mazzola & Brooker. We played host to Swindon next. We made a great start with Fordyce giving us the lead after only 6 minutes. We held onto the lead until the 90th minute and had to settle for a 1-1 draw. It was league leaders Bradford at home next. We played pretty well and managed to hold Bradford to a 0-0 draw.

We were away to Doncaster next. We played really well in the first half and went in 3-1 thanks to Pekhart, Asaad & Mazzola. We had another shocking second half performance and lost to a goal in stoppage time t make the final score 4-3 to Doncaster. It was a home game with Hartlepool next. This was another poor performance and we lost 2-1 with our goal coming from Fordyce. We travelled to Cheltenham for the next game. We went behind midway through the first half before Ricketts equalised just before half time. We made a poor start to the second half and were soon 3-1 down. We pulled one back late on thanks to an own goal but we couldn't find an equaliser. We are now only 2 points outside the relegation zone with 2 games remaining. On current form I don't fancy our chances.

Our last home game of the season was at home to Crystal Palace. Palace outplayed us from start to finish winning 2-1, after Craddock had equalised for us. We now need to win the final game of the season to stay up. The final game of the season was away to Burnley. We never looked like winning this game and we were hammered 3-0. It wasn't enough as Swindon scored a late winner against Taz's Stevenage to relegate us. In the end injuries, poor form and too many individual errors cost us dear. If the same happens next season we will be lucky to stay in the league.

Due to our very poor financial position we only brought in one player on loan with 14 players leaving before the season started. Our first game in League Two was at home to Shrewsbury. This was a very even match with neither side looking like they would score, meaning it finished 0-0. The next game was at home to Accrington. This was a much better performance and we ran out 3-1 winners thanks to Pekhart and a Fordyce double.

We travelled to Notts County for our next match. We played poorly in this game and were lucky to get out of it with a 0-0 draw. It was Grays away after this. We dominated this game from start to finish and should have won by more than a single goal, scored by Fordyce.

It was away to Crystal Palace in the League Cup next. After a fairly even first half we took the lead with 15 minutes to go when Craddock scored. 10 minutes later Palace equalised before they scored in stoppage time to win 2-1. Back to league duty as we played host to Blackpool. We had a brilliant first 45 and went in 3-0 up thanks to Pekhart, Asaad & Craddock. Second half was a non event and we ran out 3-0 winners.

Kidderminster away was next up. This was a comfortable 1-0 win thanks to a first half Craddock strike. It was a home game with Port Vale next. We played well in the first half and went in 1-0 up thanks to Fordyce. Vale equalised with about 20 minutes to go, we pushed hard for the winner but couldn't find one and had to settle for a 1-1 draw. It was Darlington away next. Our cause was helped after Darlington were reduced to 10 men inside the opening 10 minutes, and then went down to 9 10 minutes later. We took the lead just before half time through Fordyce. Fordyce doubled our lead just after the hour mark before Pekhart fired in a free kick in injury time to make it 3-0.

We hosted Cardiff next. We were quite simply brilliant in this game. Craddock scored midway through the first half and Hunter scored in stoppage time to make the final score 2-0. We looked to continue our good start to the season at home to Rushden. We dominated from start to finish but our inability to convert chances came back to haunt us again and we had to settle for a point. We travelled to Oldham next. We played poorly in this game and were lucky to escape with a 1-1 draw thanks to a stunning free kick from Pekhart.

It was another away game next as we travelled to Hereford. We took the lead early in the first half thanks to Mazzola. Easton scored with less than 15 minutes remaining to give us a 2-0 win. This left us unbeaten after 12 games with us sitting in second place, 6 points behind top spot.

We looked to continue the good start to the season on Thursday when we hosted Barnet. We played really well in the first half and went in 2-0 up thanks to Pekhart & Brooker. We dominated the second half but didn't manage to add to our lead and ran out 2-0 winners. It was away to Huddersfield next. We went behind after 40 minutes before Pekhart turned the game around with a goal either side of half time. Both sides had chances to score but we held on for a 2-1 win.

We travelled to Taz's Stevenage in the JPT next. The first 45 minutes was very even with both sides creating few chances and it remained 0-0. Stevenage took the lead just after the restart. We equalised just before the hour mark thanks to an own goal. Stevenage dominated the second half and we were lucky to get to penalties. We then proceeded to miss our first 3 penalties and lost 3-0.

It was a home game with Walsall next up. We went behind after 23 minutes but had turned it around by half time. Robson equalised before Pekhart gave us the lead. We had the best of the second half but couldn't add to our tally and won 2-1. The result came at a cost as we lost Pekhart for a few weeks. It was away to Torquay next. We played well again and won 1-0 thanks to an early Craddock goal. It was home to MK Dons next. We fell behind with less than 25 minutes to go. We went gung ho at this point. Fordyce equalised 8 minutes later before Gow gave us the win with 2 minutes to go.

We hosted Halifax in the FA Cup next. We cruised through this with Brooker & Fordyce both helping themselves to hat tricks as we ran out 6-1 winners. Peterborough away followed. We fell behind early before Robson equalised midway through the half to make it 1-1 at half time. We went 2-1 down with 2 minutes to go and it looked as if we would lose our first league game of the season. We went 2-4-4 for the last 2 minutes and Craddock equalised in stoppage time to salvage a point from a 2-2 draw.

Another away day followed at Colchester. After an uneventful first half Colchester took the lead at the start of the second half. Robson equalised from the spot with just over 20 minutes remaining. Law then popped up with his first goal for the club with 15 minutes remaining to give us a 2-1 win. It was FA Cup duty next as we travelled to Grays Athletic. This was a really entertaining game that we managed to win 5-3 thanks to Asaad, Craddock, Fordyce, Robson & Brooker. Back to league duty and we hosted Chester. We were brilliant in the first half and went in 5-0 up thanks to a double from Brooker, a double from Robson and one from Brooker. Craddock completed his hat trick just past the hour mark to make the final score 6-0.

This left us unbeaten in the league after 20 games and 3 points clear at the top and 11 clear of third place.

Monday's session started with a top of the table clash away to Northampton Town. We lost a goal mid way through the first half and went in 1-0 down. We lost a 2nd with 10 minutes to go. Smith pulled one back in stoppage time but it wasn't enough. We lost 2-1 and suffered our first league defeat of the season. We looked to bounce back at home to Rochdale. We dominated the first half and went in 3-0 up thanks to a Craddock hat trick. We conceded 2 goals before Craddock scored his 4th to make the final score 4-2.

It was Tranmere away next. We took the lead when Craddock scored mid way through the first half. Shortly after we were reduced to 10 men when Magunda was sent off. Tranmere equalised in first half stoppage time. Brooker restored our lead with 10 minutes remaining only for Tranmere to equalise 5 minutes later. We followed this with another away game at Accrington. A Craddock double in the first half put us 2-0 up. We held on to this lead until 5 minutes from time when Robson was sent off conceding a penalty which Accrington scored. We managed to hold on for a 2-1 win.

We travelled to Shrewsbury missing several key players. We went 2-0 down after 52 minutes and it looked game over. At this point we went all out attack. 15 minutes later Dunn pulled one back. We continued to throw everything at them and it eventually paid off as Ramirez scored with 2 minutes to go to complete the comeback and rescued a point. It was home to Notts County next. A brilliant first half saw us go in 4-1 up thanks to a Dunn double, one from Craddock & one from Oros. The second half was a non event and we won 4-1.

It was FA Cup duty next as we hosted Reading. We gave as good as we got and came out of it with a 0-0 draw in a very even game. The money from the replay will come in very useful. Back to league business as we hosted Grays Athletic. A poor first half was forgotten as goals from Pekhart, Craddock & Robson secured a comfortable 3-0 win. We travelled to Blackpool next. We went behind after about 30 minutes of the first half. Craddock equalised shortly before the hour mark. Blackpool took the lead again with 10 minutes to go. Brooker equalised 4 minutes later to make the final score 2-2.

We travelled to Reading for our FA Cup replay next. We put up another good fight, but Reading were too strong and we lost 1-0. Back to league duty as we hosted Kidderminster. Another fine performance saw us win 3-0 thanks to a first half double from Pekhart and a late Robson free kick. We finished Monday's session away to Port Vale. Fordyce opened the scoring shortly after the start of the second half only for Vale to equalise minutes later. All this left us top of the league with 16 games to go. We are 4 points clear of second and more importantly 19 clear of 4th.
