Albion Rovers
Season 2007/08
Division: Scottish Second Division
Title:: A fine second season
Media Prediction: 10th
Actual Place: 5th
Scottish Cup: Quarter Final lost 2-0 to Dunfermline
League Cup: 2nd Round lost 2-0 to Gretna
Challenge Cup: 1st Round lost 1-0 to Cowdenbeath
Average League Attendance: 1058
Top League Scorer: Louis Bell (9)
Top League Assists: Ciaran Donnelly (9)
Top 3 players: Louis Bell, Ollie Barnes, Ciaran Donnelly

I brought in 7 players to improve the quality of both the first team and squad. 13 players were allowed to leave in order to keep running costs down. I failed in my attempts to bring McGoldrick back to the club. Transfers In Transfers Out

I replaced coaches and a scout as they refused to sign new contracts.

At the end of December things were going very well. We were in 3rd place having picked up 31 points from 19 games. 8 points from 4 games in January meant we remained in 3rd place. February brought us 4 games but due to striker injury crisis we only managed to get 4 points but remained 3rd. March saw us play 5 games and get 8 points. This saw us drop to 5th in the league with just 4 games to go. 7 points from the last 4 meant we finished 4th. Frustrating as we miss out by just 2 points. League Sorry there is no Chart. I forgot to do the screen shot for it and now it is to late.

The challenge cup was disappointing. We did quite well in the League cup going out to Premiership opposition. The Scottish Cup was great getting to the quarter final and earning £130,000 for our trouble. Scottish Cup

A great season for us. We were tipped to struggle but did ourselves proud having the meanest defence in the league. If we had an out and out goal scorer things could have been different. We now have a healthy bank balance so hopefully there will be funds to strengthen the side for next season. I plan to bring in around 5-6 new players.

That should be we finished 5th at the end of the season not 4th.

That can be seen from the screenshot anyway.

Albion Rovers
Season 2008/09
Division: Scottish Second Division
Title:: Promotion once again
Media Prediction: 8th
Actual Place: 2nd
Scottish Cup: 1st Round lost 2-0 to Ayr
League Cup: 2nd Round lost 4-0 to Livingston
Challenge Cup: 2nd Round lost 1-0 to Morton
Average League Attendance: 1029
Top League Scorer: Louis Bell (14)
Top League Assists: Ciaran Donnelly (8)
Top 3 players: Ryan Russell, Jordan McMillan, Chris Pendleton

We brought in 7 new players to strengthen the side. Most of these came from released first division sides. We allowed 7 players to move on. Transfers In Transfers Out

Rangers sent us Jordan McMillan on loan for the season. A fine centre back.

The End of December and it is going well. We are 2nd in the league having picked up 37 points from 21 games. In January we played 4 games and picked up 10 points. This kept us in 2nd place. February was similar to January picking up 10 points from 4 games. It saw us climb to the top with a 2 point lead. 3 draws out of 3 games in March meant we slipped to 2nd. Just 4 games remained and we were 2 points behind. Just 3 points from 4 games in April meant we surrendered the title and had to settle for the playoffs finish 2nd. League Chart

The First leg against Raith was won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ciaran Donnelly. Goals from David Winters and Jason Hardy were enough to win the second leg 2-0. Playoff Semi

The Final was against First Division Airdrie. The first leg was a tight game and finished 0-0. The second leg went well with goals from Jason Hardy and Louis Bell securing promotion with a 2-0 win. Playoff Final

The cups were a bit disappointing.

A fantastic season gaining promotion. I plan to bring in 6/7 players to improve the quality of the squad and to be able to survive in the First Division. I have £80,000 to spend so hopefully we can get a few in. McGoldrick is my number 1 target if I can convince him to drop from the SPL.

Albion Rovers
Season 2009/10
Division: Scottish First Division
Title:: Promotion once again
Media Prediction: 10th
Actual Place: 9th
Scottish Cup: 2nd Round lost 2-1 to Steinhousemuir
League Cup: 2nd Round lost 1-0 to Inverness CT
Challenge Cup: 2nd Round lost 1-0 to Airdrie
Average League Attendance: 1804
Top League Scorer: Archie Campbell (11)
Top League Assists: John Fleck (8)
Top 3 players: Luke Foulkes, David Winters, Craig Curran

We brought in 5 signings spending £105, 000. 17 players were released.Transfers In Transfers Out

Rangers sent us John Fleck and Archie Campbell.

At the end of December it had been a real slog. We played 20 games only picking up 15 points. We were 9th and well adrift of 8th. 3 games In January and we lost them all, however we remained 9th. In February we got 4 points from 5 games remaining 9th. 4 points from 4 games meant we remained 9th. Going into the last 4 games we had a 1point lead over 10th with a much superior goal difference. 4 points from the 4 games were enough to secure 9th place and give us a chance of survival. League Chart

We had to come from behind 3 times to win the first leg 4-3 against Stranraer. Louis Bell and Jason Hardy both got 2 goals each. An Archie Campbell brace and one goal from Louis Bell were enough to sent us through with a 3-3 draw. Playoff Semi

A repeat of last years playoff final against Airdrie. A Dave Winters hat trick gave us a 3-0 win in the first leg. We lost the second leg 2-0 but we have done enough to stay up. Playoff Final

A very tough season in which we were lucky to survive. I can’t see us surviving next season unless we turn professional as every other team in the league will be full time. A lot of changes are needed in personal to try and make us good enough for the challenge.

How strict is the rule British players only?

Can you sign a player who is foreign but his second nationality is British?

League Cup: 3rd Round lost 2-1 to Gretna
Challenge Cup: 2nd Round lost 2-1 to Patrick Thistle
Average League Attendance: 1394
Top League Scorer: Darren Brunt (14)

Top 3 players: Dean Robertson, Steven Campbell, Steven Stewart

I was very busy in the transfer market. I brought 12 players in this season with John McGoldrick coming in before this season started. 22 players made way. Transfers In Transfers Out

Ross Perry was to sent us by Rangers.

At the end of December things were going quite well. We were 7th having picked up 22 points from 20 games. January was disappointing with us only picking up 2 points from 4 games. We dropped to the bottom of the league. In February we played 4 games and picked up 4 points remaining in 10th. 4 points from 3 games in March saw us climb 1 place to 9th. We had 5 games to make up 4 points to guarantee survival. Only 1 point was picked up from the last 5 games and we finished 10th. League Chart

The cups were a bit better this season for us.

A really disappointing season but it came as no surprise been a semi pro team in a professional league. If we can retain our best players and bring in new ones we should be able to win promotion. I am also considering changing formation and tactics to see if we can bounce back at our first attempt.
