This is of a similar theme to Terks San Marino double challenge. However we shall be travelling to the tiny nation sandwiched between Switzerland and Austria to visit Liechtenstein.
Measured north to south, the country is only about fifteen miles (24 km) long and is home to just over 30,000 people. And seven football teams. But no league.
Liechtenstein football teams play in the Swiss football leagues. The Liechtenstein Cup allows access to one Liechtenstein team each year in the UEFA Cup; FC Vaduz, a team playing in the Swiss Challenge League (i.e. the second level of Swiss football) is the most successful team in the Cup, and scored their greatest success in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1996 when they defeated the Latvian team FC Universitate Riga by 1–1 and 4–2, to go on to a lucrative fixture against Paris St Germain, which they lost 0–4 and 0–3.
Therefore the double challenge is this, turn FC Vaduz of Liechtenstein into a major force in Switzerland and Europe whilst developing the Liechentenstein players coming through the youth system to ensure the national team qualify for a major tournament and maybe even one day shock the world by winning one!
It is up to you whether you decide to play with two managers, one as the national team and one with FC Vaduz, or to start with the latter and attempt to land the national coaching role should it become available at a later stage.
The Settings
The only essential settings for this challenge are running the Swiss League down to the “Challenge League” and loading all players from Liechtenstein. If you want to run other leagues that’s up to you.
Good luck guys. Oh and any questions, feel free to ask!
Now for the club, FC Vaduz. Things seem rather bleak. Minimal funds of £53,000 have been assigned for transfers and the board room suggests a difficult season ahead:
I think it could be a few seasons at least before we can think about reaching the Swiss first division, hopefully the time spent in the Challenge League will give chance for me to develop some of the local lads to help with our international ambitions in the future.
Okay, I also plumped for FC Vaduz, not a bad first team, a bit lacking after the first 16, after assessing the team I brought in 5 new faces all on free's.

Pre season was the usual bore, picking up three wins against amateur opposition and losing to Beveren and Wacker Tirol. Also sorted out a link up with BSC Young Boys (Oo-er!) in the hope for some young up and comers (that sounded wrong)
Got drawn against Tobol Kostanay of Kazakhstan in the Euro Cup 1st Round Qual and after making a flying start to the game going 2-0 up in 14 minutes, they soon pegged me back to 2-2 which the scores finished at.
Got through the Euro Cup 1st Round after a battling 0-0 in the return leg, Tobol Kostanay were never in it and despite having 16 attempts we just couldn't score, but it mattered not and we were drew against Scotland's Gretna in the 2nd Round, which leaves me a great chance to progress.
Brought in a forward from Young Boys on loan, Sergio Cameron a Dutch 19 year old, not amazing stats but should do well.
Servette FC v FC Vaduz
First game of the season away to Servette FC and I wasn't given a chance, 1-10 they were for the win, after starting poorly they went 1-0 up, no surprise really, second half we were a different team, the introduction of Bruno Sutter was the difference and he crossed for Henrique Bern to slot home, finished 1-1
Thought it was probably you when I saw your location.
I have just travelled to Wales for the 2nd leg and it was certainly an entertaining game. It pretty much confirmed my suspicions that we can attack but can't defend.
Mad celebrations when Papa bagged with 5 minutes to go!
Next round shall see us face opposition from Ukraine.
I shall get my transfer list posted up later on once the league season has begun.
