End of 07/08 Season Review

After making a few promising signings including up and coming Liechtenstein keeper Daniel Steuble, I then set about seperating the wheat from the total crap and was confident of going that one step further and gracing the Super League.

The season started poorly, drawing Glentoran in the Euro Cup 1st Qual Round, despite leading in the first leg 1-0 we were took back to Northern Ireland and pasted 3-0. Our early league form was also hit and miss, and for half the season we were floating between 7th and 4th.

A late run of form saw us fly up the league to 2nd, which we held for the majority of the season, until long term injuries (all sustained in the same game!) to key players Juan Manuel Sara, Lulezim Hushi and Danielie Jemini truely scuppered or chances of promotion and we went on a wobble, surrendering 2nd place and being forced to accept 4th.

OK, so turns out playing FM tanked up on Stella DOES NOT work out, after coming home one night after a heavy session, I loaded up my game, resigned as England boss after 26 days and made some silly decisions during matches which I only went and saved

End of season 08/09

2nd, AGAIN

Despite having a hefty wage budget of £250k I struggled to bring in ANY players that looked to improve the current squad, ex loanee Luis Pimenta signed for a nominal £1K whilst I picked up the following..

Others departed the club, namely Jure Mioc who turned down a new deal to sign for Servette FC on a FREE whilst other fringe players were released on FREE's.

Our European adventure started in Moldova, against Nistru Otaci which we breezed through, 6-0 on agg. We were then drew against Lyn Oslo in the 2nd Qual Round, they beat us 2-1 in Oslo and despite having most of the play at home they held us to a 0-0, sending us out.

Our league form was consitantly well, but we were always chasing recently relegated St Gallen, who lead the league from Week 22 to the end of the season, Bellinzona gave us a good chase for 2nd spot, but we held them off.

Our opponents in the Playoff was FC Zurich, who, over both legs, were too powerful for us and we went down 4-1 on agg.

End of 09/10

Final Position - 4th

Final League Position

Amazingly, champions FC Sion only let in 8 goals all season, we started badly, picked up form around November time but it was too late and finished 4th, in the 4 seasons passed we've finished 2nd, 4th, 2nd, 4th...

The board backed me again with a 650K transfer fund, yet I had the same problem of trying to attract players to Liechtenstein, signing of the season was 19 year old Bosnian forward Denis Veletovac on a FREE from FC Wohlen who ended up top scorer.

And 18 were released that were no longer of use.

Our European Adventure started in the Faroe Islands against Gi which turned out to be a doddle as we went through 7-1 on agg. Much to my dismay we were drew in the 2nd Qual Round against Betis, admirably drawing the home leg 1-1 and then being gubbed in Spain 5-1.
