Lanzhou Update

Going into the forth season, confidence was high after a strong finish last season. 5 games in and we were top of the league things were going well. Then all of a sudden it went Pete Tong, couldnt get a win for love nor money!

We droppped like a stone, with 10 games to go and I was 24 points short of my target of 48. I had given up on achieving it. Another change in formation and all of a sudden we win three games in a row!

I start to think we could nick it (48 points has won the league the last 3 seasons) As it went the top team got 56 this year! but second place got 45 points.

Going into the last game of the season I had 44 points, but was well behind on goal difference. I needed a win, the team above me had played all their games so it was all down to me.

The final score was 1-1, I had blown it and faced another season in the First League.

But wait.....

I had been placed in second!!! I had worse Goal Difference, scored fewer goals, and won fewer matches! The only thing I can think of was that I had beaten the third place team in our two games this season.

So I went up The chairman was kind enough to give me a transfer budget of £0! Which I have saved for the transfer window!

I couldnt buy a single player that I felt was worth having so after fluking promotion, no strengthening of the team the media predicted us bottom, shocker!

I've set myself a target of 30 points to avoid relegation and at the halfway point of the season we're on 20, with a massive injury crisis. I'm confident that we will stay up this season, and next season we will have money because.....

we lost our parent club when we went up, and it was replaced by Houston in America. They are paying us £1.4mil. Baring in mind the season before the whole year we had an income of 0.9mil when we get our money next year it will wipe out the clubs debt and put us £1mil in the black. Then I can spend spend spend!!!!

2006/07 Burghausen Season Update

4 Draws from the first 5 games left us looking like winning the league was going to be an extremely hard struggle. The team did not look on form, and was coupled with 2 losses in 3 games soon after. This left us 4 points behind 1st, and 2 behind 2nd, and though not much, the bad form looked set to kick in. The only positives seemed to be doing well in the cup.

With just 7 games left, we remained unbeaten, won 4, draw 3. But sure enough the other teams fell back down, and going into the last game we were 4 points clear!! So with players resting in the last game, a 1-1 draw, we went into the German Cup Final knowing we should have beaten the same team, Berlin, in our pre-season friendly, good start! But they had just won the German First Division, and sure enough we succumbed to a 2-1 defeat

Those 2 successes gave us 3.5million into the balance, and at last out of debt. Still waiting for confirmation on wage budget and transfer budget, but hopefully something this time! But not much transfer budget needed, with Krejci scoring lots for my strikers. Just the back to tidy up now.

End of my challenge

Well I have stopped playing this challenge now

With the announcement of the FM08 Demo which of course leads into the full release shortly after I have had to admit defeat in this challenge. I have lost the urge to play FM as I know I will be on the new game as soon as it comes out.

Last season we managed to stay up with 35 points, and even if I had hit my target of 30 we would have been safe.

We started the new season pretty well but had a dip in form just in the last few games before I found out abuot the demo. We are currently sitting in 7th spot.

Knowing that only the top team gets into the Asian Champions League means that I am probably at least 3 seasons away from just qualifying!

I would like to Thank Seanefc for putting this challenge out there as it really got me into FM again for a couple of months.

It has also taught me a little about tactics which I hope to take into the new game when its out.
