Haven't had any work on today, so another season done. Season 2016/17 - QPR - 9th in Premiership
My 5th season in the Premiership and another frustrating mid-table finish, but only 6 points from 5th place and 1 point from a European spot.
All the more frustrating when Gianni Paladini went over my head and accpeted a bid from Man Utd for my star centre-back in January! Who knows if I could have made it if he had stayed, I wouldn't have accepted the £11.5m bid but Mr. Paladini wanted to.
I made a slight change to my tactic, going for a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 if you prefer, but still with Sturridge as a lone striker (even though I wanted to change that) as my central midfielders are the best players in my team and have to fit them all in! As you can goalscoring was a problem but I don't want to have to sell a midfielder and buy a striker unless it's at the right price. We'll see what happens in the summer. My worst finish since being promoted, although only a few points separated all the mid-table sides. Things are starting to look stale. My reputation can't be improving all that much because I can't compete with the big teams with the big players. Gonna have to seriously overachieve to get a European spot back, then use that to attract better players, but it's proving difficult. Still need to sort out a formation, messed around with 4-3-3, then 4-4-2 for some of the season, may stick with a flat 4-4-2 next year and see how it goes. QPR - Premiership - 2017/18 |

Decided to give this one a go.
First season only brought in one signing which was Dong Fangzhuo on loan.
I made the league cup final and fa cup semi final only to narrowly lose 0-1 to bolton to miss out on europe and lost 3-2 after extra time against Portsmouth. Good news i guess being that i can compete well with priemership sides. Atleast i won the important one, winning the championship and gaining promotion Cystal Palace 06/07 |

Keep that form up and you'll have finished this before I get away from step 2!

Update time. Season 2018/19 - QPR - 9th in Premiership
I got a nasty surprise at the start of this season, I'll let you read it too: Board expectations
Expecting me to challenge for the title next season?! Blimey, talk about pressure!
I did manage to bring in some quality players, switched to a 4-4-2 and got myself back into the top 10.
A high note for this season was my first trophy, unfortunately not the FA cup, but a narrow 1-0 League Cup win against Newcastle secured a place in Europe and a place in the hearts of all the R's fans. Board and fan reaction after League Cup win QPR - Premiership - 2018/19
A decent season then, and signs of the improvement that was needed, but challenge for the title?? They must be joking, was I to be favourite for the sack next season... Season 2019/20 - QPR - 11th in Premiership
Another season of ups and downs. Why aren't I sacked you're probably asking. I guess the board were 'joking' with their previous season's expectations as this year I was only expected to achieve a respectable position in the league, at least that's more realistic, but still a bit weird that the board didn't follow through on their challenging for the title expectation, perhaps my league cup win appeased them.
Anyway, a few more good signings and I thought I would be challenging for the top 6 again but had inconsistent results, maybe too many signings in 2 seasons had a detrimental effect. It didn't help that the board accepted an offer in January for my star right back who went to Barcelona, albeit for £29m plus 50% sell-on clause. That's the third time they've gone over my head though, and I don't like it!
The board and fans kept faith with me thanks to my decent cup runs, this screenshot of my manager snapshot shows how I reached the semi-final of the UEFA Cup, 6th round of the FA Cup and narrowly lost to Spurs in the League Cup final. Snapshot QPR - Premiership - 2019/20
So still no nearer to fifth or an FA cup win, I was hoping this step of the challenge wouldn't take me more than 5 years but it's already been 10. Phew, so here we go again...

Alright, i've finally had the time recently to continure with this challenge. I've just finished my second season but i'm still on step one. Season 2006/07 - Crystal Palace - 16th Crystal Palace 06/07
Well, well, well, had an absolute shocker of a season I was never in contention for promotion but at the same time was there was never really a risk of being relegated. Had to settle for mid table mediocrity for the majority of the season. I was scared that i might get the sack at times during the season, but luckily the board showed some faith in me. I managed to bring in a few promising youngsters in Didier Digard and Doudin. The signings of Noe Pamarot and Teddy Sheringham brought some experience to the team, but did little to help on field. Only upside was that i could not possibly do worse next season. Season 2007/08 - Crystal Palace - 1st Crystal Palace 07/08
Premier League here we come!!! Bounced back nicely after the disappointment of last year. It was tight near the top for almost all of the season, a five game winning streak towards the end of the season is what helped us to get over the line. A stingy transfer budget meant that only a few players were added to the squad. Young winger Emil Hallfredsson was picked up from Tottenham on a bosman, but the majority of my success came from loan signings. Aliadiere was the second top scorer in the Championship and Etuhu from Man City played a huge part in my success.
So it's onto the Premier League now, my current squad needs strengthening considerably if i am to survive in the premiership. I've been handed a nice transfer kitty of around 4m, so that should help me rebuild the squad.

The first part of step 2 finally done! Didn't change the squad or tactics much, just replaced a centre-back for a centre-back and goalkeeper for a goalkeeper, maybe the lack of transfers helped the team gel easier. Anyway, I was determined to focus on the league so played my reserves in every cup game. It seemed to work and the board and fans are delighted that I have achieved Champion's League football next season (just sneaked ahead of Newcastle on goal difference in the last game of the season). Hopefully this will bring me a big budget and I can bring in some top players to achieve that vital FA cup win I need over the next couple of seasons. I'm already getting the sun tan lotion out though, hopefully soon I'll be off to Spain! QPR - Premiership - 2020/21 |

Brought in 13 players for my first season in the premiership and only players to have a notable impact from last season being Kuqi(9 goals 14 Assists, Speroni(EPL GK of the year), Snowcroft, Ifil, Borrowdale
In - Luis Jimenez 4.9m (Chilean ARC/FC, who top scored with 14 goals and 5 assists), Armand Traore 2.9m (Left back from Arsenal), Seb Hines 2m (Centre Back from Middlesborough), Omer Riza 1.3m (Backup striker from turkey), Seflo Soley 140k (From Preston), Gary Speed 55k
Bosmans - Miroslav Karhan, Jay-jay Okocha, Stefano Fiore, Emil Hallfreosson
Loan - Jereme Aliadiere (Arsenal, talk about injury prone only managed 7 games all year), Peter Beardsley (Man Utd), Ruben (Barca backup keeper) [IMG]http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/2037/terryry3.th.png]Cystal Palace 07/08
Managed to battle to a 10th place finish(Barely, only being ahead of man city on goals scored!) and thus completing Stage 1 and Resigning from Palace. Not a bad start to the challenge but... now how to get into QPR, they finished 8th in championship and manager status is set to secure looks like the Unemployment coach for me.

You missed out on one club that Venables has managed, Middlesbrough. Ok, so he wasn't there very long, but admit it, he saved Boro during his time there, and made Bryan Robson looked amateur.
