Sorry guys, aimed to have this done yesterday, as you know, but a few things cropped up. Let's just call it fashionably late.
Last night the world's media filled the previously little-known press centre of the Indonesian Football Association as the final plans the exciting new league format were to be announced.
A profound sense of shock quickly filled the hall as it became clear that this was to be an revolutionary change to Indonesian football, the likes of which had never been seen before anywhere in Asia.
Photographers and journalists were left stunned as it was announced that 18 of the member clubs of the Indonesian top division had sold a considerable stake to the members of the shadowy G14, none of whom had official representitives present.
But there was no question the biggest shock was when a a side the lights were suddenly extinguished in shocking fashion, and to the sound of an angelic choir, there emerged from a cloud of smoke some of football's most recognisable superstars. As the smoke cleared, journalists initial shock gave way to amazement, astonishment, disbelief, and finally flabbergastedness as gradually the faces of Maldini, Thuram, Van der Sar, Nedved, Hyppia and numerous others became clear.
"We have come that you might see greatness, and having beheld that greatness, might practice it in your own land and your own ways" boomed the voice of Italian football's most prestigious defender, adding "and it's certainly nothing to do with a large backhander from Silvio in order to exploit a fertile commercial market rich for the plucking, so you can get any such idea out of your heads now."
Just as the smoke cleared, there was a sudden flash of light, and the footballing superstars disappeared as quickly as they had come. The journalists began to chatter nervously amaongst themselves. What did this mean for Indonesian, and indeed world football? Only time would tell...
So after all that nonsense, we may begin...
First off, a few notes from me. I've been slightly lenient in some cases with regards to player's ages and clubs. I initially wanted selected players to be currently playing for their G14 clubs, but as it became obvious people were choosing from different databases, I thought I'd let this one go. That's why the likes of Bojinov etc were able to be selected.
Second, I've altered some of the D.O.B.'s of some of the players. This is because players under 16 are not eligible to play, which seemed a bit pointless.
Third, I don't know if I made it clear before but created player and ass. man nationalities were 2nd nationalities. This is partly to ensure the teams kept an Indonesian backbone, and also in the players' case to help them get picked, as the League has a limit on foreign players.
Finally, some of the outfield players submitted didn't have a stated position. I've had a fair stab at them, most of them appear to be strikers, let me know if there's any you're not happy with.
I'm not sure how long a post can be on these forums so I'll start a new thread for screenshots in a minute. But don't worry, they will be up tonight.
