hi
good challenge, am looking to start it when i get home (next couple of days)
just one thought would maybe docking Manchester United some points when they are in the conference?
maybe just 10-20 points, wouldnt make a difference but a bit more realistic
just a pointer but looks like a really good idea and looking forward to trying it soon!

Just to let the guys that have just started this challenge, I am now in 4th season after champions every season and the biggest challenge is the financial aspect of it.

Cantona and Keane are both on £100k a week, and that continues when they retire and carry on as staff.

In hindsight I would have definately sold all if not most of the older original players because they are absolutely no use in a few seasons when they're too old, and you could get a few bob for them, and if you sell them you won't be paying their wages each week.

Good luck.

Post progress.

Well I won the Conference at a stroll. Without losing a game scored 213 goals and only conceded 7. I also won the FA Trophy but got knocked out in the FA Cup in the 5th round and got to the Euro Cup quarter final.

Cantona topped the scoring charts with 71 goals in all competitions with Solskjaer and Billy Sharp both getting 39 and Alan Smith 30.

The only trouble is by the end of the season I was £6.5 million in debt. Due to mainly having to pay £3.5 million a month in interest.

So at the begining of the next season I had sold Wes Brown for £3m, Richardson for £1.5, Carrick for £5.75 and Ben Foster for £700k and with the help of having an American feeder club my bank balance is looking alot healthier.

With having brought a few of up and coming youngsters and the blend of them with the experience of Giggs, Neville, Keane and Cantona we are sitting pretty at the top of League 2 with played 8 and won 8. So the future looks rosy (fingers crossed). I will keep you posted how the season progresses.

ok, downloaded the save and when I loaded it, I get a few moments into the load and an error message comes up saying the save game is not in the corregt folder for the one it was created in and it will now use the default area. I am unable to load it any further as the game evenually shuts down, anyone got any ideas how I can fix this, really want to do this.

Peace

I decided I'd have a go at this one as well. I thought I'd play it a bit different though. I tried to re-sign as many of the old players as possible and then sell them in order to make quite a bit of money (as the financial side of the game seems to be the hardest challenge).

Players that would re-sign with me were:-

Silvestre
Heinze
Carrick
Rossi
Vidic
Eagles
Saha
Kuszczak
Bardsley
Jones

Now out of those lot, I'm going to sell - Silvestre, Heinze, Carrick, Vidic and Saha.

The rest are all young players with Man U anyway and don't cost a lot in upkeep.

I also tried to renew the contracts of Keane and Cantona to 1 or 2 years, but they weren't playing ball!!! Keane wouldn't agree to a mutual termination and I don't think the board would be happy to pay 31 million in a release fee!!!

Just played Dinaburg in the 1st Leg and Won 2-0.

I'm also thinking of selling the likes of Giggs and Scholes and just bringing in Championship Quality players to start with.

Well, my Pre-Season has finished and I've refused to play any of the players (apart from sub appearances if needed) that I am selling.

So far only Giggs (5 mill) and Scholes (5.5 mill) have departed the club. I have got bids for Saha, Carrick and Silvestre on the go though.

So far, only Jonas Elmer has been brought into the club with Michael Mancienne on his way at the end of this Season. I've also got offers in for Verdan Corluka and Billy Sharp.

My Pre-Season results were as follow:-

Auxerre - Won 1-0
Dinaburg - Won 2-0
Celtic - Won 2-0
Dinaburg - Won 3-0
Nice - Drew 3-3
Slavia Prague - Won 2-1

I've been drawn against Polish side Lech in the EURO Cup 2nd Qualifying round.

My 1st choice 11 at this present time is:-

GK - Kuszczak
RB - Bardsley
LB - Elmer
CB - Brown
CB - O'Shea
DMC - Keane
RM - Fletcher
LM - Richardson
AM - Rossi
ST - Brandy
ST - Cantona

As you can see quite a young team (Keane and Cantona aside) and I'm hoping that these will develop together over the years in the bottom rungs of the League.

seems a bit against the original post to resign all the players that left.
