Well done spankie! I'm finding the second division much harder, but I have had no budget for both my seasons so far, and am haing to rely on frees. I'm hoping to go up through the wierd period playoff qualification. Updates soon. Well done though

well done on the promotion spankie!

It's quite impressive that you managed to get to the top league so fast, do you reckon your squad will cope in the First Division?

Well, I ve figured out the whole Upper and Lower League Cup crazyness.

They are both run from mid march until md may just before the league season.

The Upper League Cup consists of 2 groups of 8. They are formed by teams of the Premier Division (12 teams) and the six best teams from the previous season in the First Divison.

The Lower League Cup consists of 4 groups of 6 teams, formed by the 6 remaining First Division sides and 18 lower league clubs. I did awful in my first go, considering I was the only First Division side in the group. Here are the standings:

http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/5...aguecupfl8.jpg

I started well by winning my first two games and drawing the hardest fixture on paper against nearly relegated side Fjardabiggd away. Then I squandered a 3-1 against Hvor at home and a 1-0 lead against Magni away. I was very naive and didnt go defensive enough when defending the lead, but oh well there is always next year.

Now off to battle against relegation...

Congrats on promotion spankie.

corinthiano That's certainly an interesting set up in Iceland, it almost sounds as mad as the cup competitions in Northern Ireland.

First round of the Norwegian cup against a team from the league below, so I decide to field a much weakened team (completely different starting 11 of my back-up players). We go 4-2 down in the second half so I bring on my insurance policy.

Nicely played Gundo

Knockbreda - August 2008

The new season is upon us, and we've just played our first competitive game, away to Portstewart in the Intermediate Cup. Great start, winning 1-0, but should probably have been more.

Brought in 5 new players to strengthen the squad and I'm quietly optimistic about the season.
Unfortunately, one of my new signings, left back Bryan Pentland broke his foot about two weeks after I signed him He's out for between 3 and 5 months.

Cheers johnny. How long does it take you on average to get through the closed season? I take ages usually as I always search long and hard for new additions and future prospects for my club.

For the first time since I've started playing, a Northern Irish team has won a European tie, Linfield beating Dudelange (LUX) 6-1 on aggregate in the Euro Vase 1st Round. They went on to lose narrowly 5-4 (on agg) to Motherwell in the next round.

Close season usually takes me a good few hours, depending on how much I feel I need to change the squad. With no spending money though, I'm quite limited on where I can search for players.
