Time for a little update. Things are going generally well and so far we have lost just one competitive game, and that wasnt even in the Danish Cup.
Anyway, firstly my players brought in
and my squad.
No amazing players as yet although some of the players I brought in have gone straight to the reserves and under 18s as they are not quite ready yet. My top scorer was already there when I arrived and has surprised me.
As you can see from the squad screen, we are in 2nd place. We were in first but lost the last league game before I took the screenie, for our first defeat of the season.
Our danish Cup exploits have amazed me, having got through a potential banana skin in non-league oppo in the 1st round, we were then drawn at home to Premiership mid-table team AC Horsens. A surprisingly even game finally had the deadlock broken in the 89th minute when their DC put through his own net. That still left us time to win and miss a penalty for a 1-0 win. 3rd round and again we have Premiership oppo in Randers also at home. This time we concede early but equalize within a couple of minutes to go in at half time 1-1. Then in stoppage time at the end of the game we break and score the winner to beat our second Premiership team of the competition. Now as the last team left in from outside the Prem & 1st Divisions we again are home to Prem team Esbjerg. Fixtures & Results so far
Annoyingly our only defeat (4-3) doubled the number of goals we had conceded in the league (only 4 in the first 6 games). Hopefully we can bounce back in the league and get back to our winning ways.
Next update to come at the big winter break.
| Looking good for promotion.
How long is your winter break in Denmark then?

Rep Power: 3 | gordon_a. Well done on getting to 2nd place and the good cup run .
Where is September in your league season though ?
About half-way is my guess so looking good. What are the rules for you league. I notice that it's any 3 from 4 subs and a maximum on 3 non EU players in the squad, but how many get promoted/relegated etc and is it looking like playoffs for 2nd or automatic promotion or nothing?

Big game for us next in the league away against Vålerenga who where relegated from the Tippeligaen last season.
And the venue...
25,572 capacity all seater Ullevål Stadion, Oslo.
It's a big day out for the lads if nothing else.

I've just played my 1st Premiership home game. It was against Portadown. The good news was that we scored 3 goals and were watched by over 700 fans. The bad news was that we conceded 4 goals and our ex player Diarmuid, (sold for £50K), was a constant thorn in our side on their left flank.
They are managed by none other than Steve McClaren .
After he <STRIKE>covered himself in glory with England</STRIKE>, was politely asked to leave over fears that the police were unable to guarantee his safety if he selected Fat Frank 1 more time, he joined Bangor as an Ass Man, (how very apt), and then accepted the senior position at Portadown last season.
Portadown finished 3rd in the league last season, (they haven't finished lower than 4th since the game started), and he eased them through the Inter Toto 1st Round this season before they went out in the 2nd Round.
Under his general happiness, it states that he..... Quote: |
Is fairly happy with how things are going, but feels a move to a bigger stage would be in his best interests.
| Well why the hell did he take a job as an Ass Man in a pokey little Irish club then?
His record is quite good though.
Played 33.
Won 25.
Drawn 1.
Lost 7.
Goals for 72.
Goals against 26.

| The attendance was 11,790 and game finished 1-1, Patrik Burda racing clear after a long ball out of the Stavanger defence and a flick on from the Big Man Lund. Vålerenga had 16 shots to our 8 and they also had 52% of the possession.
Delighted with the result though. |

To answer some of your questions about Denmark:
The season runs from the beginning of August until the end of June with a winter break from mid-November until near the end of March. We have currently played 7 out of our scheduled 26 league games, or in other words 1/4 way through the season.
The Premier division is slightly different in that they start in July & end in May with the winter break finishing near the start of March.

Linfield are comfortable the best club in the Country and the only N.Irish club who are professional.
This is our first season in the League Cup. In the past we have been entered into the Intermediate League Cup. This competition is just for the big boys, so the final will be by far our biggest game so far.
We will be playing Crusaders for the first time under my management and it will be our first visit to Windsor Park. I just hope that we can sell a few tickets to try and fill out it's 20306 capacity.

| Gundo. I bet you are .
Mon the Burda .
Looks like you have decent attendances in your league, or are Valerenga the exception to the rule?
Not sure what my average will be this season because my league games keep getting postponed because of Cups. I would guess at about 700(ish) though, with a 1000 capacity.
