Aalst Belgian Cup Season 2 Round-up

As the Belgian cup up to the sixth round is played at the start of the season, i thought i would do a cup round-up now.

As we won promotion last season, we entered a round later this time around, and drew one of the lower sides from our old division: Leuven. This turned out to be a rather easy first compeitive game, without much incident. Denys continued his form from last season with two goals either side of half time, and Pellegriti, our right back chipped in with on on the half way whistle. Although possesion was pretty even, Aalst made better use of theirs, and won quite comfortably. Cup R4

Then we drew Cappellen, another third teir side, and surely another easy game?? In a lively ame, with exactly equal possesion, Aalst once again made better use of their share of the ball, scoring, again, three goals, without conceding. Nguekan, this time, the one to continue his really impressive form, with one goal. Then another free signing, this summers
best addition, Bruno Baetens, in the mould of Denys (The best signing last term), pitched in with an impressive 2 goals. Cup round 5

Then the dreaded draw - an established first division side, and another tough game. A hat-trick from their star man, Akpala, was enough to see us off, with a disappointing game from our point of view. We had a lot less possesion, and they deserved their win. Round 6

Well, on to the summer transfers. After shifting out an average player to the top division, I ended up with a small budget of £2,000, of which i spent none, bringing in a lot of free transfers!: -
Transfers

As I have already mentioned, I have arranged the transfer of a MASSIVE target man in the winter, but even he is on a free!! Once again, I have invested in only one loan player, Mr. Ghabi

Also some news on the financial side, we are finally starting to make money, and a profit of £90,000 this season leaves with just 257K to break even again!!

The biggest transfer involving a N.Irish club since the game began, was a £40,000 deal taking some old codger Gk to Glentoran from Coleraine.

Another record then.

JoseRR. 6073 fans in the cup must have put a few quid in the coffers. As the away team, how much did you get?

Unlucky with Serrierres, maybe you'll have better luck with the cool named Zug 94.

Imagine if you win the Champions League with them...

It would read: 'Zug 94 have won the Champions League', what an achievement that would be, just love it.

Jimbo are you finding it harder in that league then?

JoseRR Quality target man mate. He'll win you games single handedly with that heading ability.
