Will give a proper update when the season is finished (likely tomorrow or sunday), but we are making money like water over here...
The club made a profit of 385K$ last month. Looks like I have inherited from a pretty high reputation, because I have the second highest attendance in the league (despite being only 6th in the standings)...

Good work, at least the bank manager is happy.

After we threw away a 2 goal lead in last seasons final, and ultimately ended up losing in extra time, we have been given a 2nd chance.
We have made the final for the 2nd consecutive year.
Because we lost in extra time last season, the game counts it as a draw rather than a loss. As a result we will be making Intermediate Cup history today if we win.
Proper update to follow sometime tomorrow, but here are the basics before I go to sleep...
League position: 4th
Named as overachievers for the league
Got the two signings of the season
Finances went from 50K$ in the bank to 1.6M$ after one season (I even made 50K$ over the summer when nobody was playing... ), yet the board does not let me upgrade anything due to lack of funds...
2x 14 goal scorers
Looking forward to dominating the league next season...

Lisburn Rangers N.Ireland Division 2. 2008/09. End of season 2.
If I had to describe this season in 1 word, it would be boring.
Pre-season started off poorly, as even our own Reserves beat us and drew with us.
When the season proper started though, it was to be a different story. We drew our opening game 0-0 against higher league Institute, but from then on went on a mind numbingly boring run of 24 consecutive wins, including victory in the Intermediate League Cup Final, before Premiership Glentoran beat us in the Antrim Cup Qtr Final. The loss knocked our confidance a little and we drew 4 of our next 6 league games, before Div 1 Ards beat us in the Antrim Trophy Final. In the 14 remaining fixtures, our only loss was in the big Cup, (Irish Cup 5th Rnd), where we were beaten in extra time, by higher league opposition. During that run we also won the Intermediate Cup Final, after losing out in extra time last year.
The squad list. shows that no less than 6 different players reached double figure goals, and a further 3 players were stuck on 9 goals for the season.
It wasn't all champagne and partying though. Our finances look to be struggling, and although I'm receiving intrest in 2 of my full-backs, the amount being offered is insulting so they can poke it!
We set a few records for people to remember us by.
I hope nobody thinks I'm gloating, boasting, or even worse than that cheating. I'm sure those of you who know me from dafuge's challenge, know that not to be the case. I have heard comments that this sort of thing has been reported before in the N.Irish leagues, but it doesn't always happen, The gist of the thinking, (as far as I understand it), is that the game requires tweaking in the area of morale related to excessive good/bad runs in certain structures. I contemplated jacking completely, but don't beleive that it's really too far fetched. I did lose 2 finals, and my tactics are almost good enough to go unbeaten in Conference North/South, (not quite). In any case, the true test of this challenge wil be trying to make the jump from domestic chamions to European competetiveness.
Although I have gone back to my Bromley save, I will be continuing this sporadically and keeping you updated. Please trust me that I will give a full and detailed update, even when I go crashing to relegation.
Good luck to all & long live Burda .

My finances have been worrying me, (I never worry at all playing in England), so I've been doing a little research into transfer deals from N.Irish clubs.
I've just looked at players being sold from a N.Irish club to an English club and come up with the following results.
July 2006.
Michael Halliday. Glentoran to stoke for £7,000. Currently valued at £110,000.
Alan Mannus. Linfield to Luton for £2,000. Currently valued at £65,000.
Gary Hamilton. Glentoran to Cardiff for £9,000. Curently valued at £140,000.
Peter Thompson. Linfield to Aberdeen for free. Currently valued at £525,000.
January 2008.
Elliott Morris. Glentoran to Aberdeen for free. Currently valued at £70,000.
July 2008.
Joey Hutchinson. Glentoran to Leeds for free. Currently valued at £35,000. (In fairness he did start the game in England at darlington).
January 2009.
Ryan Brown. Bangor to Kilmarnock for £14,000. Currently valued at £12,000.
Greg Shannon. Linfield to Coventry for free. Currently valued at £60,000.
July 2009.
Michael Dougherty. Glentoran to QPR for free. Currently valued at £20,000.
Phillip Matthews. Distillery to Burnley for free. Currently valued at £8,000.
Darren McAnerney. Portadown to Wolves for free. Currently valued at £18,000.
Thomas Wray. Distillery to Leeds for free. Currently valued at £6,000.
Nick McKay. Glentoran to Burnley for free. Currently valued at £6,000.
I had hoped that I would be able to sell my stars to English clubs for big money when I got to the Premiership. It doesn't appear that this will be the case. A future transfer fee might be the way forward, but it's not going to be as easy as I thought. It makes sense though. As Bromley manager in dafuge's challenge, I was often able to sign a future star for next to nothing in N.Ireland.
