Rep Power: 4 | NK Mighty Metalac - Croatia Second Division - Mid-season report 07/08
So there is a pause in Croatian football from mid November until the end of February. So after 12 games played, here is a brief update.
My previous update is located here, for those who are new.
I had experienced mixed results in my friendlies, my guys showing a mixture of brilliant plays and pathetic mistakes. I was hoping that the mistakes were over with and the brilliant plays would continue in the season.
4 minutes into the first match of the season, I was trailing 0-2. We went like this with 3 straight losses.
However, after the first month or so, the full time contract I have been able to land started to show signs. My guys were improving a lot with the training. I invested a lot in the coaching staff in such a way that I have 3-4 stars pretty much everywhere in my training report.
From the beginning of October, our team has 4 wins, 2 losses and an unfortunate draw against Novalja . (We were trailing 2-4 at the 75th minute, so I ordered my guys to attack. Scored 3 goals in 3 minutes. But one of my defenders scored an own goal in the last 15 seconds of the game... )
Still, if you look at the graph , it's pretty encourageing. Fixtures Squad stats Marko Barisic : got injured for 2-3 months in the last minute of our last game. That 100 day break comes in handy... Our future star in the midfield. Varvodic : Decent Keeper I found because my other were too crappy.
And onwards (and upwards!) to the end of the season!

But the U19s don't get that break...
Bah, I sent my youngsters to go play in the snow outside...
I actually have 5 U19 players in my first team squad (and no, I cannot afford to have backups...) |

I just can't seem to adapt to this foreign managing.
Firstly, I didn't like Pitea in Sweden then my Lillehammer game crashed before I got going and I'm a third of the way through the season with Kalundborg and I'm not really enjoying it that much.
I wanted to try foreign managing to see what it was like but so far, it's not really for me.
I still want to try the challenge though, so I was thinking a home nation, Wales or Northern Ireland perhaps as I enjoyed previous games in each of those two countries if that's ok.

Rep Power: 3 | VC Aalst End of Season Update
Well after a nail-biting finish to the league, with a script a Hollywood producer would be proud of, Aalst just, on the last day managed to grab a 2-2 draw, which was enough to secure them promotion to the Belgian Second Division!!! Table
Well, as i mentioned, some unwanted shocks in the last 5 games! After a strong season, the defence started to leak goald at an alarming rate, conceding 15 goals in the last 7, including a 5-1 defeat to a mid-table team on the one before last day. I thought we had blown it, however RC Gent, one of many near champions also suffered a blow, which just kept us top! Then on the last day, we lost a two goal lead, but hung on to claim the title, and a bigger challenge next year! I kow that the defence needs strengening, but with no transfer budget for the new season, loans may be the only option!
As I mentioned in a previous post, after a promising start to the cup, a first division side proved a step too far, after knocking out a second division side on pens! All in all an action packed season, capped off with Nguekam, the Aalst skipper, picking up the top goalscorer award, with 21 league goals. Also, one of my free signings, Denys managed 15 league goals, and is now wanted by a few first division sides!
Well its off to bigger and hopefully better things next season, avoiding a swift return to the Thid teir of Belgian football is first on the agenda, so I'll update you soon with the early season cup games and transfers (If there are any!)
Rob, Manager VC Eendracht Aalst 2002

| I would give N.Ireland a miss if I were you :thdn:.
It's so easy I hate it .
I'm giving up for a while and going back to Bromley.
I'll be back when for little regular spells though.
Good luck all .
