Things are moving along nicely.

This lot beat me in a cup last year.

Revenge is oh so sweet .

McKane becomes the first Rangers player to receive National recognition. He has been called up to the U21's team to play France .
Very good! I had a game in Northern Ireland a while back with Glebe which you will now know of and the only way forward is young N. Irish players, I had a few gems in my squad when I stopped it.

Well, we were predicted to come bottom in the 1st season with a squad average age of 16 but I signed some players and got some loans in and dominated from start to finish losing about 2 games out of 22 league games then was in the top half of Division 1 mid way through season 2 but I stopped for a while and then lost my game somwhere, I had a problem with the comp. I also turned Haverfordwest from a similar position in Wales to European Qualifier. I like the Home Nations except other than England and Scotland, they are fun.

Whilst in Wales I had Shefield United trying to buy my Welsh U21 star for 600k  which was ace as you only get 30k for winning the league I think. That was a great game that lasted for 5 seasons. Also, Inverness Caley Thistle bought an 17 year old from me for 110k. I went to Torquay United after them but I wanted to go back and unfortunately I didn't have a back up.

NK Metalac - Croatian Second Division - 2007/08 Pre-season report

You may want to look here to see my initial reaction upon taking control of the Mighty Metalac.

Of my 4 non-grey players, 1 was walking with a cane, one still was wet behind the ears and the other two would have been beaten regularly by my grandmother.

So I went hunting for new players. I actually found a couple good ones. (That being said, I fully expect to get my behind handed to me regularly this season...). Needless to say that all of those guys were free transfers, because I have absolutely no transfer money.

Squad
Zlatko Majer : 5 goals and 1 assist in 8 apps.
Marko Barisic
Ivan Cerkez
Hrvoje Dukic
Ivan Sambolec (should I play this guy at DM or DC?)

My guys were really out of form, so I went in a tour of Montenegro and then a tour of Albania. Those two are not usually considered football superpowers, so I had a chance of not being crushed at each game. Oh boy was I wrong!

Tour of Montenegro: 3 losses, 1 draw
Tour of Albania: 2 wins, 2 losses

Actually, I was pretty happy with the games in Albania, as we challenged the other teams who seemed to be superior opposition (valued more, bigger stadiums and players were valued more when they had any). I also saw where were my strenghts and weaknesses. Now, I get a season to correct them.

Croatian Cups
Croatian Cup
I got drawn against a non-playing side Ivancica in the Preliminary Round.
Amazingly, last year, Metalac went on to the second round, to get beaten by Dinamo (2-1 at home). Winners were Marsonia (2nd Division!!) who then got a ticket for an European Competition, beating Osijek 5-1 on aggregate.

Europe Watch
Champions Cup
06/07: Dinamo knocked Gorica (Slovenia) in the second round before getting creamed (5-1, including a 4-0 loss at home) against CKSA Moscow, who went on to win the competition, against Valencia. Noteworthy: Liverpool got eliminated in that round too, against Fenerbahçe
07/08: Hajduk beat Levski(Sofia) before being eliminated by Auxerre in the 3rd Qualifying round 3-2, due to an embarassing 2-0 loss at home. This time, Liverpool kicked the butt of a Turkish club..

Euro Cup
2 teams from Croatia enter this competition.
06/07: Rijeka: 2nd Qual. Rnd loss against Brondby.
Varteks: 2nd Qual. Rnd loss against Beita Jerusalem.
07/08: Osijek: 2nd Qual. Rnd loss against Legia (Poland)
Marsonia (2nd Division side!): 2nd Qual. Rnd WIN against Rabotnicki (a Macedonian club...)

Euro vase
06/07: Osijek: 3rd round loss against Larisa (Greece)
07/08: Varteks: Avenge Rijeka from last year by beating Brondby before losing in the 3rd round to Charlton (6-2 agg)

Go Metalac, Go!

For everyone's personal enlightenment, here are some quality links...

Croatian Second League (Wikipedia)
NK Metalac (Wikipedia)

Oops, it's Croatian wikipedia... Still, we get all the results from the club... We can also make out that it's a club from Osijek. Which lead me to my next link.

Map! Look at the far right

That's actually the best picture I can find of the pitch... Not bad. In fact, we are sharing it with a First division side (HNK Cibalia)
