Like I said, keep your eyes out!

Match 8: Toulon vs. La Vella

We're on the the road again, going places that I've never been, this time its Toulon that plays host. With our international side coming off a good win, can we keep it going in the league?

17' - Apparently not. Carrington repelled the challenge of Vincent Boulanger, but a weak clearance was stolen by Anthony Colinet, who beat James Brookes on the short side. I blame the continental breakfast at the Toulon Holiday Inn. But as this was the only goal of the half and the team needed to stop dropping games on the road, manager Trotter was sure to let the troops have it during the break. Will it pay off?

Anthony Colinet 17'

46' - Well, something must have clicked. A back and forth exchange off the kick-off led to Carrington booting it 50 yards down the field towards defender Amir Kahiha. Kahiha must have been looking at his girl in the stands though, because it ricocheted off his head and right to Drewic who finally scores his first for La Vella. We will have to send that girl some flowers.

Anthony Colinet 17'__________________Alexi Drewic 46'

59' - We took the lead as well. I wasn't watching the screen at the time, but Ulrich Von Liechtenstein somehow ended up with a wide open net, and made no mistake. Hey, I'll take 'em as we get 'em.

Toulon________________1_-_2__________La Vella
Anthony Colinet 17'__________________Alexi Drewic 46'
_________________________________Ulrich Von Liechtenstein 59'

65' - A bit of a controversial clincher here. Von Liechtenstein's throw in was picked-up by Marcus Cook, but Cookie was tripped up by Marlon Brando's French great-nephew Frédéric. Now due to his genes, Freddy is a big boy, and referee Gael Grelier probably couldn't tell whether Cook was tripped in or out of the box thanks to Brando's bulging belly, but he awarded the penalty to La Vella anyways. And the much-maligned Canuck striker, Ryan Andrews, who was FINALLY making his La Vella debut, bested keeper Florent Chaigneau in the one on one and clinched a nice road victory for the Andorrans.

FINAL SCORE

I resent that. It was a pinpoint pass

Hey, I didn't say it wasn't a well placed pass

Well, sleep, a training session for a job I'm doing on the weekend, and various annoyances on the dial-up have delayed this quite a bit but I'm determined to get this up before I hit the hay.

PRE-GAME NEWS
Here is where we are in the World Rankings after the Israel game.
How's Ethiopia that high? Their team is pretty much starving children!

Match 8: La Vella vs. Laval

Finally, we arrive back home in Andorra, but the matches don't get any easier as we faceoff against recently relegated Laval. Who will win in this battle of the LAVs?

11' - Well, that is a good start. Off a big save by Brookes, its worked from O'Gol to Viz-ee to Carrington to Andrews who crossed it in for Alejandro Anilez, who plinked it in off the post, giving the Vellans the early lead and giving a post maker a new job.

La Vella_________________1_-_0__________Laval
Alejandro Anilez 11'

34' - Sigh. Chance after chance repelled only for that to happen. Hong Pong Dong's clearance is tapped forward by Rémi Gomis for Tunisian import Fahid Ben Kalfallah who blasted a shot that even Spiderman couldn't retrieve, let alone Brookes. Unless he was like Mr. Fantastic maybe, or something like that............ Anyways, it's all tied up heading into the break.

La Vella_________________1_-_1________________Laval
Alejandro Anilez 11'___________Fahid Ben Kalfallah 32'

64' - Yikes. Apparently not satisfied with putting through balls, Gomis has taking to putting out players, doing just that to winger Alejandro Anilez. Great. I wish one of their players had to get off the field.......

La Vella_________________1_-_1________________Laval
Alejandro Anilez 11'___________Fahid Ben Kalfallah 32'
Alejandro Anilez 67'

70' - Well, look at that! You would have thought I'd seen this coming! With no Anilez to harass, captain Mickael Buzaré turned his attention to striker Luke Swinson, but with a yellow from his early job on the ex-Peruvian, Buzaré should have been a lot more careful. He picked up his second yellow earning himself the boot. Maybe we can use this to our advantage?

La Vella_________________1_-_1________________Laval
Alejandro Anilez 11'___________Fahid Ben Kalfallah 32'
Alejandro Anilez 67'_____<STRIKE>Mickael Buzaré</STRIKE>

73' - Well what do you know? Not three mintues after Buzaré's expulsion, O'Gol sent it forward for Scala, who in turn nodded it on for the man who got Laval down to 10 men, Luke Swinson, who blasted a curling shot past Arnaud Balijon to give La Vella a win in their homecoming and to heap more misery on Laval's season, as you will see below.

FINAL SCORE

I figured you'd be pleased by that, Ben. I was going to make a crack about them instead of the one about the starving children, but, well, its past 3AM here and I couldn't think of anything about Singapore to put down. So I did the next best thing.

About the table, we actually face Clermont in a couple of matches, a good chance for us to catch 'em. Won't have that up until Friday likely, but who knows?
