Nov. 10th 2007 Luxembourg – Canada (Friendly)
Line-up
Nine of the ten players start the match, with only Brad Harper on the bench. Canada is listed as favorite, but only as “evens,” and Bloodhound is listed as key player for Luxembourg.
Personal prediction: This is the one. Nine of the superluxlads in the starting line-up is, if I’m not mistaken, a record. It’s also the first time Freelio AND van der Anders start the match together, surely that’ll result in some goals. And, let’s be honest here, this is Canada… puhlease. Multi-goal win for Luxembourg, I say.
Play-by-play:
2’ – long range shot Freeliovic, wide. Good pass by Vizzy though
9’ – shot Wallace, but too weak, saved
15’ – Wallace blasts over from distance
19’ – Vizzy sends Freelio in the clear with a great pass, goalie wins the one-on-one
24’ – 0-1! Counter attack Canada, Radzinski scores
25’ – right after the goal, Harper comes on for Freeliovic, for some odd reason. Formation stays 4-4-2 though, just some players shifting around
29’ – 0-2! De Guzman from a free kick
44’ – another fast counter by Canada, Jordan saves well
45’ – 1-2! Van der Anders scores on a great deep pass by Ruggiero
Half time stats
Bit unlucky. Luxembourg started well, but the two quick Canada goals took the wind out of their sails. The goal right before the break gives hope for the second half though. Hopefully they can turn things around before the manager makes the obligatory six substitutions because it’s a friendly.
62’ – Luxembourg put some pressure with a few crosses that got cleared, first actual shot comes from a free kick, vd Anders wide
72’ – Bloodhound and van der Anders substituted
72’ – Vizzy yellow card for pushing some Canadian away
85’ – yellow card Wallace
86’ – Jordan saves easy shot from distance

Bit disappointing. Luxembourg was boss in the second half, but didn’t manage to create enough chances. Several crosses into the box, but none of them came to anything. Still an undeserved loss though, a draw would have been more than fair, and even a win wouldn’t have been all that unjust.
On the bright side, a goal by van der Anders and Teejay Vizzy’s senior debut.
