Pablo van den Neijster rejects a new contract at Oostende, wanting a higher appearance bonus.
Meanwhile, just days away from more Cup matches and/or the opening match of the regular season for pretty much everyone, a few people pick up nasty injuries:
Jordan out for 2 weeks – 1 month with a pulled hamstring.
Ruud van Titchen out for 2-3 months with a torn hamstring.
Rhys Howells out for 2-3 months with a slipped disc.


International Results:

Belgium – Kazakhstan (Euro Ch’Ship Qual.)
1 - 0

Belgium U21 – Armenia U21 (Euro U21 Ch’Ship Qual.)
3 - 1

Obviously without any of us, for now, but I’ll keep tabs on international results anyway, since they might be relevant in the not so distant future. The Euro U21 tournament proper is held at the end of this first season – with a little luck some of the Belgian and Dutch youngsters will have made it onto their national U21 managers’ radar by then. Though perhaps Euro U19 is more realistic to hope for. Nothing scheduled for that one yet.

As mentioned, the Luxembourg U21 team was already knocked out of this qualifying campaign. The Dutch U21s have no matches lined up, I assume this is because they host Euro U21 and are therefore automatically qualified.

Great work! Young Tjebbe-Willem Hermanus looks like a bad-ass no nonsense player who never gives up (work rate, teamwork, determination) and who should be able to scare a winger or two into submission (aggression, bravery, tackling)!

I hope Tjebbe-Willem will get some decent coaching and get his man-marking ability up a bit as well: he will be Holland's next Rottweiler on the right flank!

With last week’s Belgian Cup 3rd Round, and this week’s Belgian Cup 4th Round and the opening matches of the Dutch First Division, everyone’s team has now played at least one competitive match. So a quick summary:

Of the 33 players, a very respectable 21 started their team’s first match of the season in the starting line-up.
A further 2 made an appearance from the bench.
Of the 10 that didn’t play yet, 5 were injured: van Titchen, Jordan, Tomaldinho, van Dahash, Bennett. The latter two were actually recovered from their injury already, but were still too unfit to play. Howells is, as mentioned in the previous post, also injured at the moment, but he managed to get his debut in just before.

The remaining 5 that didn’t play, despite not being injured:
Jai Wallace (unused sub)
Mikel Van Den Butler (not selected)
Fabio Maldini (unused sub)
Pablo van den Neijster (unused sub)
Teejay Vizzy (not selected)

Joining Freeliovic and Howells last week, 4 more players managed to score on their debut: Birdstadt, Zalim of Satas, Sneaky Ninja and Ryan van der Anders.
Ruggiero and Van Winkle managed an assist. The rest had rather uneventful debuts.

Shortlist screenshots of the stats will follow regularly, now that matches have started. (Probably monthly.)
