Default Harrogate Town In The Prem?

Well, not yet......but thats the plan I thought as the ink was drying on the contract I had just signed.

A car sales manager given a chance to manage a football team, I would show the lads down the boozer who laughed and joked at my thoughts, my visions. I was laughing now - I was a Football Manager.

This is my story of the ups and downs of a car sales...sorry a football manager.

*Editors note, Football Manager 2005 with updated patch. Huge database.

I have started many a story, and finished none. I hope to at least complete one, therfore to keep motivation for myself I am keeping this story as a weekly update - i the form of a story. But will also be updating a forum board, with player stats etc. Feel free to pop to that forumHarrogate Town. This forum is for stats only, and also any feedback, questions etc......I will use this feedback and any questions posted to keep the story going. I have tried this style before, but this time I'm going for it big style!!!

So please, no feedback or questions here. But at the Harrogate question and stats site, link above and I look forward to starting and finishing this one.

Pre-Season - July

A great pre-season as far as I was bothered. Two wins, three draws and just one defeat left us 5-4 on to win our league opener against Hinckley.

The pre-season results were not of importance to me, but building the back-room staff up and gearing up to become a full time outfit was at the front of my mind.

Five new players, and eleven new members of coaching, scouting and physio's came through the door, but yet I was looking for an assistant manager.

With the coaches working with what I had, the scouts were hard at work looking for additions - free one's at that. Maybe I could pick a few good loan signings up?

12 days to the big kick off, and only a couple of niggles to worry about - a win was a must, along with an assistant manager.

It was the morning of the match, myself and my assistant manager had picked the team squad a few days before. It was our final look at the team and decided to pick the starting eleven and subs. In a game we had to win, the following players were asked to take the first step towards the prem.

GK - Adam Ogden
LB - Mark Barnard
CB - Mark Haran
CB - Simon Sturdy
RB - Rhodri Thomas
CM - Dominic Krief
CM - Leigh Wood
CM - Lee Philpott
ST - Richard Pacquette
ST - James Turley
ST - Alex Jeffries

SUBS: Hughes, Robertshaw, Hunter, Smith and Dunning.

August 2004

What a month August was, a great 3-0 away win at Hinckley was followed by a 4-2 defeat at Braford PA. A draw to settle the ship was followed by a win.

Sitting in 7th place it, was a not bad start - and one that at least has me in the top half of the league (after all my brief was a top half finish).

Adding another striker to my squad, I needed to bolster my side in the middle of the park and also at the back. As decent sides would find a way through my back four.

With four games staring me in the face, it was back to the training ground, the websites, the road for scouting, the physio's room and the fan mail to name just a few of my jobs.
