First Half
A great start to the first half as Riordan broke the deadlock on 7 minutes. He managed to get behind the defence and slotted the ball into the net. We put lots more pressure on the Fulham defence but we couldn’t get our lead bigger. We settled for 1-0 at half time.
Second Half
A slow start to the second half as both teams looked fast asleep. We woke up mid way through the half but our efforts were worthless as none of them really tested the Fulham keeper. A few changes were made on 68 minutes as Franck Queudreu and Mark Viduka came off as Mirko Pieri and Malcolm Christie came onto replace them. We continued to pile the pressure on Fulham and we finally got our 2nd goal on 81 minutes. Substitute Malcolm Christie grabbed the winner on 81 minutes. Downing played the ball into the box and Christie stuck his foot on the end of it to get his 1st of the season after his lengthy injury lay off.
Injury Report
Stewart Downing out for 2 weeks with after suffering a groin strain. Surely going to be missed but I guess Leandre Griffit can fill his boots.
Ugo Ehiogu international call-up
Ugo Ehiogu has been called up to the England squad to replace Owen hargreaves.
Ehiogu ecstatic at being called up
M’boro defender Ugo Ehiogu has spoken of his happiness at being brought into the England squad. ‘At my age call ups are very rare. Im just happy that Mr Eriksson has given me another chance to prove myself and I hope I can get a start and push for the main squad for the World cup. A few good performances can surely aid my preparation.
Trulli looks to bolster squad
Mario Trulli has been reported to have been looking to bring in a few new defenders. With Gareth Southgate not having many seasons left in him, Trulli is looking to bring in his replacement. Chief scout Ron Bone has reported back with a few signings that could benefit the team.
Fernando Meira - This player would instantly command a place in the Middlesbrough starting line up. He has the ability to be a success here and I recommend you try and sign this player.
Wilfred Bouma - Another decent centre back who would be a good addition. His price could prove a stumbling block though.
Josep Simunic - A superb player who would instantly command a place in your first team. A player of his calibre will unlikely have any implications in obtaining a work permit.
Alejandro Lembo - I watched this player in his sides 4-2 win over Atletico Madrid. He would be a good signing and wouldn’t need a work permit as he has an Italian passport.
Marc van den Boogaart - I have heard promising things about this young star. Hey has come through the Feyenoord youth system an would be a decent signing for the team.
Andre Ooijer - This player would be a good signing for the team. PSV’s reluctance in selling their star defender will prove a stumbling block.
That is all for now. Il report back when I find more suitable players.
Szilard Nemeth unhappy at being left out of the squad
Middlesbrough striker Nemeth has spoken of his disappointment at not being part of the Middlesbrough First team. He stated that he must be played or risk losing him. Nemeth went on to say that Mario Trulli was inexperienced at this level and didn’t know a good player when he saw one.
[b]Outburst causes Trulli to act quickly[b]
After hearing that striker Szilard Nemeth is unhappy about being on the sidelines Mr trulli had this to say:
After hearing Szilard saying he was unhappy at not being part of first team I wanted to tell him that he just had to perform better in training. We have 5 great strikers here, including Nemeth who are all vying for them two spots up front. There is obviously going to be some disappointment if they arent in the match day 16 but that should just make them more determined to get into my side.
I cant keep having unhappy players in my squad so unless he becomes happy with my selection well he might have to find a new club.
