Tunisia 4 V Australia 1

Australia were defeated by Tunisia as goals from Ahmed Hammi (24) , Patrick Kisnorbo (OG) (43), Malick (45) and Selim Benachour (63) was enough to see off Nicky Carles loan strike on 35 minutes. Australia had several good opportunitys noticeably Scott McDonalds chance he was one on one with a keeper when the score was 1-1 and his first shot was saved by the keeper but he blazed his second attempt wide. This defeat means Australia will not be qualifying for the 2nd stage of the Olympics.

Subs -
C Recchia out for A Madaschi (45)
J McKain out for M Murdocca (63)
S Mcdonald out for J Lucas (82)

S Candsell Sheriff yellow carded

B Jones (6) - Left open by defenders
J Timpano (7) - Made crucial interventions but got tired as game went on
J McKain (5) - Went off injured late
P Kisnorbo (6) - a few special touches by Patrick who is rumoured to be the favourite to partner Craig Moore in the Senior Australian teams defence. Was left vulnerable by his teams lack of quality
A Elrich (5) - Didnt get involved enough and his current problems with His club Melbourne and his dispute with Busan seems to be affecting him.
C Recchia (6) - Did ok for 45 mins
L Wilkshire (7) - Held midfield well and got stuck in when needed. Again let down by players around him
N Carle (8) - Constant threat but when switched to left wing he could not get on the ball enough
B Holman (7) - Crowd gets excited when he runs with the ball as it seems somethin special will happen but its all hype unfortunely.
S McDonald (5) - Couldnt finish chances

Subs - A Madaschi (6) - Solid , might be a starter next game.
Massimo Murdocca (6) - Completed his passes
J Lucas (7) - Added energy

Elrich gone home

Socceroo boss Luis Fernandez has admitted he has let Ahmad Elrich to return home early to sort out several problems. " Ahmad approached me and asked and i and the management staff has decided to let him return home early. Hes a special lad but obviously their were a few things on his mind which were affecting his performance so i hope things pan out well for him and iLL phone him when we get home". Fernandez said.

About the upcoming Argentinian game - "It will be difficult for us. They are yet to concede a goal and are a quality side. We will respect them to an extent but we will try to play our game and it will be good to return home at least earning some respect on the way.
