UNITED GOOD MONEY IN EUROPE
The latest bets have come out for the new season's Uefa Champions League and despite a very tough group, Manchester United are one of the favourites to lift the trophy in May next year. Manchester United are third favourites behind Spanish giants Real Madrid and Italian champions AC Milan. Faiz Khan will look at this and probably ignore it but with quite confidence. Here is a list of the main contenders in full:

Real Madrid 5-1
AC Milan 7-1
Manchester United 15-2
Barcelona - 8-1
Juventus - 8-1
Valencia - 10-1

UNITED TOO MUCH FOR CHARLTON
MANCHESTER UNITED 3 CHARLTON ATHLETIC 0
Manchester United consolidated their second place in the Premiership table this afternoon witha a comfortable victory at Old Trafford. Two goals from Ruud van Nistelrooy and one from Alan Smith sealed their fourth win in six unbeaten league games. Faiz Khan made one change to his line up as Quinton Fortune came in for the rested Ryan Giggs. And it didnt take very long for the South African to make an impact on the game as United had the lead inside seven minutes. A superb ball over the top from Fortune sent Smith clear and he bent the ball round keeper Dean Kiely. From then on, it was one way traffic and they had a host of chances with Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Roy Keane all missing. For all their determination, United needed a second goal before halftime and they got it. Scholes sent the ball through to van Nistelrooy and from a tight angle, he completely powered it into the bottom corner. The halftime score was Manchester United 2 Charlton Athletic. In the second half, Charlton came out and decided to have a go at United, forcing Tim Howard into some quality saves. But United came back by having their own golden opportunities with van Nistelrooy going over, Ronaldo forcing a save from Kiely and Darren Fletcher going well wide. There was still time for one more goal as United rounded off a good afternoon. Fletcher ran forward before lofting a ball over the top for van Nistelrooy to clip the ball over Kiely. The afternoon was slightly soured when Ronaldo was dismissed for two yellow cards - Ronaldo feels he has been victimised by referees in England. United come back from their international break and seal a comfortable three points for Faiz Khan.

Man Utd : Howard, G Neville, Silvestre (Heinze 74), Brown, Vanden Borre, Keane, Scholes (Fletcher 74), Ronaldo, Fortune, Smith, van Nistelrooy

Charlton Athletic : Kiely, Young (Kishishev 73), Hreidarsson, Fortune (Perry 33), Fish, Rommedhal, Konchesky, Holland, Hughes (Euell 73), Murphy, Johansson

UNITED TAKEN APART IN ITALY
INTER MILAN 4 MANCHESTER UNITED 1
Inter Milan emphatically inflicted Manchester United's first competitive defeat under manager Faiz Khan tonight in the San Siro. Goals from Marco Materazzi, Adriano, Emre and Christian Vieri helped Inter ruthlessly take apart a poor United defence. Paul Scholes had earlier given his side the lead. Khan made just one change to the United line up as Louis Saha replaced the suspended Alan Smith. The match started very even as keepers Francesco Toldo and Tim Howard were worked to produce some superb saves at both ends. United had the lead midway through the first half as Mikeal Silvestre's determination to win the ball set Scholes up and he produced a cool finish in the bottom corner. Inter were stung into some furious action as they turned the game on its head twice inside eight minutes. Firstly, a corner allowed to come through by a very static United defence and Materazzi rose to power the ball past Howard. Then came a goal that shows the world why football is described as the beautiful game. Mesmerising one-touch football ended with a superb ball through to Adriano by Alvaro Recoba and the Brazilian kept his cool by sliding the ball under Howard. Nothing else happened until the halftime whistle blew signalling the scoreline of Inter Milan 2 Manchester United 1. The second half involved only team as Inter turned the screw on United. Howard in the United goal was the only player worthy of praise from this match as he produced a damage limitation period. Inter finished the game off with two more goals inside three minutes. Firstly, former United man Juan Sebastian Veron set up Emre and he produced an unstoppable volley from 30 yards to make the San Siro. Then Adriano took Gary Neville on and stood the ball upto the far post and there was Vieri to outjump Howard and head into an empty net. So, it has finally happened. Manchester United have suffered defeat under Faiz Khan for the first time. Not only was it lost, it was also humiliating to watch. The next game against Valencia at Old Trafford in a fortnight has now become a must-win game.

Inter Milan : Toldo, Ze Maria, Favalli, Cordoba, Materazzi, Zanetti, Stankovic, Davids (Veron 45), Recoba (Emre 61), Martins (Vieri 45), Adriano

Man Utd : Howard, G Neville, Silvestre, Brown, Vanden Borre (O'Shea 65), Keane (Kleberson 65), Scholes, Ronaldo, Fortune (Richardson 65), Saha, van Nistelrooy

Goals : Inter Milan : Materazzi (30), Adriano (38), Emre (64), Vieri (67)
Man Utd : Scholes (24)

Referee : Markus Merk
Attendance : 85683

UNITED TO SIGN ARGENTINIAN STOPPER
Manchester United have the confirmed that the club will be signing highly rated Argentinian goalkeeper Sebastian Saja from San Lorenzo in the summer of 2005. The news comes after his club had offered a very small price of £1m and Khan was only too happy to capitalise on such a proposition. Saja himself is said to be very happy with the move next summer as it gives him what his ambitions says - European football.

UNITED HUMILIATED AT ANFILED
LIVERPOOL 3 MANCHESTER UNITED 0
Manchester United slipped to third in the Premiership after an embarassing defeat at Anfield this afternoon. Goals from Djbril Cisse, Jamie Carragher and Florent Sinama-Pongolle gave Liverpool a very nice victory. Faiz Khan watched his side produce a similar display to the one in the San Siro last Wednesday and he will not be very happy. This game saw a very disappointing debut from £20m teenager Wayne Rooney. Khan's United line up saw Rooney come in for injured Paul Scholes, John O'Shea in for Anthony Vanden Borre, Alan Smith come back in for Louis Saha and the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo was replaced by youngster Christopher Eagles. United were under the cosh from start to finish as Cisse was only stopped by a desperate challenge from Wes Brown when through on goal early on. United didnt take the warning signs very seriously and they were punished shortly. Cisse sped through from a super pass from Steven Gerrard and he clipped the ball over Tim Howard and into the back of the net. Smith had the chance to hit back almost immediately for United but he sent his shot sailing over the bar. Liverpool dominated the rest of the half with Howard saving his side from a serious beating. The half ended Liverpool 3 Manchester United 0. The second half was as one sided as the second as Liverpool rammed home the three points. Early in the second half, Liverpool extended their lead. A free-kick from Carragher took a heavy and wicked deflection off the wall and wrong footed poor Howard and bounced in. United's demise was evident as Smith was booked for diving. And Liverpool finished the winning job with ten minutes to go. A huge clearance from Dietmar Hamann sent Sinama Pongolle clear and the French teenager sent a rasping low shot across Howard and into the far corner. Faiz Khan looked on very embarassed as he has always Liverpool like his side's supporters. Khan will have to pick his side after this result if they are to mount a serious title challenge this season.

Liverpool : Dudek, Carragher, Placente, Biscan, Hyypia, Gerrard, Hamann, Hammill (Welsh 65), Kewell, Luis Garica (Riise 75), Cisse (Sinama Pongolle 65)

Man Utd : Howard, G Neville, Silvestre, Brown, O'Shea, Keane, Eagles, Fortune (Giggs 53), Rooney (Fletcher 53), Smith, van Nistelrooy

Goals : Cisse (12), Carragher (53), Sinama Pongolle (80)

Referee : Barry Knight
Attendance : 45344
