Well what a great pre-season, unbeaten and some fine victories to our name, hopefully the form that we can take into the league campaign.

As I got into my office I saw a note and some key’s on my desk, didn’t understand a word of what it said on this piece of paper but grabbed the keys, which happened to be car keys and decided to take a walk onto the car park.

As I get onto the car park, using the remote alarm to try and figure out which car it belonged too, nothing beeped. Well, that was until Jaap came along…..

Jaap: Ah, you got the note I left you then

Me: Yeah I sure did.

Jaap: Well, seeing as you are without a car at the moment, this company car should do the trick.

Me: Yeah it sure will, it’s just I got to find it.

Jaap: Oh, well, it’s not here yet, it’s going to be delivered later on

Me: Right! That explains why I couldn’t find it then!

The first game of the season is on the 22nd of August, so with the friendlies over, some more intensive training to come to just iron out some minor things that I think need some attention, especially with Erik, need to get him banging a few goals in.

So with the guys training, I decided to go on some scouting trips to see if I can find a defender who’s willing to join but actually also has some talent!

I thought I’d try my luck with some Premiership clubs and surprisingly, they were really co-operative too, I put an offer in for Sommeil, seemed like a decent centre back and seeing as he’s being ousted at Man City, may fancy a move back to the continent.

I also went in for Amoruso of Blackburn and then made a loan offer for Higginbotham of Southampton.

Great I thought, if the clubs were this willing to get rid of them, surely their up for a move. However, after getting the green light to speak with these players, they all expressed their feelings of not wanting to join immediately after sitting down in the meeting. But I still tried to tempt them with an offer, however, it just wasn’t enough to change their minds.

So my search for a defender continues, these ones may have not been the youngest guys in the world, but they got plenty of experience which would have helped our current young squad out.
