Rep Power: 0 | Swiftly back to the story
Padraic Kennedy awoke on his bed in a daze. His head throbbed with pain and his legs were numb. He reached for his watch which told him it was the 16th of October.
Startled, he tried to jump to his feet but could onle succeeded in falling to the cold tiled floor. He had been unconscious fro three weeks. He remebered the Hamilton game and then...nothing. Suddenly he felt a violent urge to throw up. Once again he tried to stand but failed miserably covering himself in sick.
He tried his best to figure out what had happened. He had vague recollections of being hit on the head but nothing was clear to him. All he knew was that he had been drinking heavily following his first defeat as Gretna boss. There had been a knock on his office door. After that things got blurry. he knew he had felt confused, scared even but why was a mystery to him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gradually things started coming back to him. He seemed to recall a defeat to Brechin and something to do with Dundee United but all these memories were remembered in Chris Kamara's voice.
Once he regained control of his legs he walked unsteadily to the answering machine. the flashing light indicated he had no new messages. He had been as good as dead for thre weeks and noone had even called to see if he was alright. "Now this is depressing" he thought to himself.
However one thing was clear in his mind. Whatever had happened in those three weeks would never be spoken of again.

Berwick 2-4 Gretna
At Shielfield Park
Attendance: 4025
Referee: John Bicknell
Padraic Kennedy shivered as he entered the away dressing room. Everything seemed different to him. He was still confused but knew he had a team to manage. He almost had a full squad to select but for the absence of Stewart Greacen and David Bingham with minor injuries. Bingham had been in great form so far this season but he had been picking up quite a few injuries. Nothing too serious but enough to ensure he missed games.
None of the players questioned him about his mysterious absence from the club and he was both relieved and disappointed about that The Match
Gretna took an early lead after six minutes. Chris Innes won a ball on the halfway line and immediately found Luke Ibbotson who played a perfect pass inside for David Noble. Noble turned well on the ball and unleashed an swerving shot with the outside of hs boot from 25 yards, finding the top right hand corner of the goal.
Ryan Baldacchino hit the side nettng soon after and it was he who created the second for Gretna. Fergus Tiernan spread the ball to him on the left. He beat his man and whipped a dangerous cross into the six yard box. Kenny Deuchar rose above the centre half to head home his ninth goal of the season.
Deuchar got his second of the day from a copy cat situation. Once again Baldacchino supplied the cross and Deuchar arrived at the back post for an easy finish.
In the second half Gretna continued to pile on the ressure and it wasn’t long beore the fourth. Great buildup between Noble and Van Zanten led to Noble putting Ibbotson through. The nineteen year old composed himself before slamming the ball home.
Brechin began to revitalise themselves and were rewarded with two late goals but Gretna held on for three points.
Post Match Interview
Padraic, a good win today but you can’t be pleased with the two goals you conceded late on.
PK: We lost our focus and paid the price for it but overall it was a great performance from the lads.
David Van Zanten was injured in the second half. Will he be out for long?
PK: No, its just a bruised rib. He was taken off just for safety but he won’t be out for more than a few days.
And finally, you spent the last few weeks on a scouting trip. Any possible targets?
PK: Scouting trip? Oh right…..Well erm, uh, nothing concrete but we are looking a several players. Gretna Team

D. Van Zanten
S. McLaughlin
M. Smith
C. Inees
S. Tosh
R. Baldacchino

20 games played and eight point s clear at the top. Padraic Kennedy was delighted. His Gretna team were back on top form. They had hit a rocky patch before Christmas but pulled themselves together to record ten straight wins in the last weeks including an away win at Dunfermline which saw them reach the fourth round of the Scottish Cup, the furthest they had managed under Kennedy’s tenure.
They also had two new recruits at Raydale Park. There had been embarrassment at Newcastle airport when Immigration officers realised that a man checked in as Yasser Hussain was not the previously thought dead son of an Iraqi dictator but in fact he was Gretna’s new right winger. The Qatar international signed on a three year deal from Cypriots AEL Limassol.
Also in was Brazilian Naldo who luckily didn’t imitate his comrade Ederson by doing a runner but stuck around to become a big part of Kennedy’s defence and getting on the scoresheet in his second appearance.
The team was looking good for automatic promotion and the Irishman at the helm was already being touted for the manager of the year award. Recently however he had not been getting along well with his chairman, Brooks Mileson who still refused to budge on the matter of improving the clubs facilities. Kennedy believed it was essential to improve the academy and training pitch which was in disrepair. At this stage it consisted of a few portakabins and two pitches which were uneven and rarely seemed to be cut.
Nonetheless, he was happy. Very happy.

Rep Power: 0 | About time I delved back into some personal lives I think
-------------------------------------------------
The apartment was clean. Absolutely spotless. Dishes from last night's dinner had been....washed and the dog had been released from under the pile of old newspapers in the corner.
Kenny Deuchar was speechless. He let the front door swing shut by itself behind him. What the hell has happened, he thought. He had left for training at nine that morning with the house in a state.
Puzzled he sat down on his leather sofa and flicked on the television. There was very little on at this time of day and Deuchar quickly flicked it off again.
"I really need to get digital" He spoke out loud to himself.
Still confused, he went to his bedroom to change out of his training gear. As he approached the door he heard someone humming. Slowly he creaked open the door and peered inside.
"Agh!" He jumped back in shock," Who on earth are you and what have you done to my apartment?"
"I am your new housekeeper, Davina. the club hired me to take care of you" spoke the women who had alarmed Deuchar"
"Now if you will excuse me, I am finished my work for the day and must be on my way"
She pushed passed him and left without another word to the Gretna striker(who by the way had now scored twenty-seven goals this season). Duechar was again confused. But he couldn't help but feel attracted to his new cleaner. Her warts were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen and her toothless smile had his heart doing somersaults. Maybe this was the woman to help him get on with his romantic life.
Kenny Deuchar had never had a conventional love-life.
