SHOCK AT CAPPIELOW!!!

Morton have knocked Celtic out of the league cup on penalties. Morton played ultra-defensive styel and rarely got out of their own half has Celtic blooded youngsters - Darren O'Dea(DC), Paul Lawson(MC) and Gary Irvine (RB) but still had a good strenght team on the pitch. Petrov, Hartson, Maloney and Sutton missed a whole host of chances although all were outside the box as the box was often crowded by Morton men. As time went on Morton began to look more steady at the back and Celtics legs started to go and so it went to penalties. Stilian Petrov skied the 1st, Chris Templeman scored the one and only penalty making it 1-0,Alan thompson had his saved, Scott McLaughlin had his saved. Chris Sutton one of the Bhoys most experienced players had his saved as Hislop fired wide. Aliadiere missed his and Andy Dick had his saved. It was down to Joos Valgaren to keep Celtic in the match and he didnt, Coyle pulled of a diving save low to his right to put Morton through to the quarter finals to play Clyde.

Morton scrape win away to Raith

Raith Rovers squandered chance after chance as Morton hit Raith with a sucker punch in the title race as 1st played 2nd. Throughout the whole match Raith dominated and it was only heroics from Craig Coyle and Stewart Greacen which kept them at bay as Raith squandered more chances going more attacking Morton made a few smart changes and in the 86th min the stole all 3 points winning 1-0 with Richie Hart scoring.

Raith 0-1 Morton - Starks Park Att - 1698

Gap back to six

Morton dropped 3 points away to 8th place Arbroath yesterday as Gavin Swankie thrashed a volley home on half time mark. It was a deserved win for the relegation battlers as they dominated in both halfs and restricted Mortons chances. Only Chris Templeman and Steven Hislop had any decent chances and they failed to take them.

Arbroath 1-0 Morton - Gayfield Att - 2100

MoM - Millar (8) - Arbroath

Morton kid scores debut hat-trick

Jason Walker scored a hat-trick on his debut for Morton against 3rd division Stenhousemuir in the 2nd round of the Scottish Cup. Walker looked to have confidence and a finishing touch which Templeman and Hislop have lacked in recent weeks. Walker put Morton ahead on 31mins with a crashing drive. He added a curling second on 55mins and netted his hat-trick goal with 20mins to go heading the ball from a cross by Tam Brighton.

Morton 3-0 Stenhousemuir - Cappielow Att -2184

Goals - Walker (3)
Injuries -
MoM - Walker (10) - Morton

Lack of discipline and Hart genious cost Ayr dear

A mix of a lack of discipline from Ayr and a fantastic Richie Hart performance was what gave Morton the win today. Hart opened the scoring in the 13th min with a thunderous strike and then only 2mins later there was a foul in the area letting Scott McLaughlin net the 2nd. Hart then scored a quick fire double, his 19th and 20th goal of the season making it 4-0 and completing his hat-trick. Peter Cherie the goal keeper then fouled McLaughlin in the area right on half time and McLaughlin stepped up and converted the kick. Morton dominated a in a match where they were not threatend at all.

Morton 5-0 Ayr Utd - Cappielow Att - 3045

Goals - Hart (3), McLaughlin (2 pens)
Injuries -
MoM - Hart (10)

Morton struggle to two goal victory

Morton struggled to a 2-0 victory away to Alloa. Morton had a hat full of chances as they squandered everyone of them, Steven Hislop apparently back to his old self again. As Hislop and Templeman failed to take chances Richie Hart once again took up the mantle and netted the opener, his 21st of the season. Alloa didnt threaten too much but they had two good chances and Coyle was called upon to save the Ton. Youngster Jason Walker scored his 4th of the season to seal the match in the 90th min with a delicate chip over the keeper.

Alloa 0-2 Morton - Recreation Park Att - 1852

Goals - Hart, Walker
Injuries -
MoM - Hart (10) - Morton

Morton Loan Starlet

Morton have landed Rangers starlet Bob Davidson on a 12 month loan. Morton have been short of strikers since Mads Timm's loan spell ended 2months ago. Sean Dillon has been suprisingly sent back to Kilmarnock by Morton which has brought about rumours they are back in for Timm on loan again but face stiff competition from Gretna.

Morton made to pay for missed chances

New boy Bob Davidson made an unsuccesful start to his Morton career as they went down 2-1 at home to Stirling Albion. Morton took the lead through Richie Hart apparently the only player who can hit the target for the Ton. Albion levelled through Di Giacomo, the loan star from Kilmarnock. Morton again missed a catalogue of oppertunities and the salt was vigourously rubbed in the wounds as the away team snatched a late winner.

Morton 1-2 Stirling - Cappielow Att - 2528

Goals - Hart
Injuries -
MoM - Hay (8) - Stirling
