Its called football "Manager" for a reason. I do however agree being able to be a youth team coach or something around those lines would be very good fun. But Im more than happy that they keep on the same track they're on now.
sorry! i forgot football managers were all robots who just constantly manage! but fair point. and just so you know i am in no way criticising football manager. i Think it is fantastic as it. everything im suggesting would just be very a very welcome bonus (well in my eyes at least) </BLOCKQUOTE>
A football manager may go and scout a player or two or do the training, and you can do this in Football Manager currently, training is there and you have the ability to watch others games to keep an eye on a specific player if you wish.
Further than that I don't think anything is needed, but as I said, prehaps an assistant manager feature could be implimented by allowing you to manage only the reserves (and also a youth one with only the U21's or U18's) This could be a good feature.
Being a scout however would be very pointless and boring. Seeing as you wouldn't be able to write a report, you'd just be picking from a combo box or radio buttons, so the feature would be very limited (As from a coding perspective this is all they could do)
i do think the idea of becoming an assistant manager or a youth team coach has potential,as there are plenty examples of managers taking smaller roles in a larger club. you could still do some aspects of the game and raise your profile which could lead to job offers, like alan irvine with preston.

The logic here is: some people complain that wages are useless in FM. That's true. But, how is a boat or a car useful in FM?
well. i could ask you how is winning the league usefull in fm? or winning a cup? or signing a really big name? ...a sense of acheivment. which is what playing games is about eh?

im really not ...you must be misunderstanding. but none the less its probably just best for us to agree to disagree otherwise we'r gonna keep going round
No, you were. You said it'd be good to have it and then got asked how a boat or a car would be useful for FM. You said how is winning cups and leagues useful? A sense of achievment. I doubt boats and cars would bring you that in FM.

then im not contridicting myself eh? its a matter of opinion. some people might think (like with the sims) upgrading your possesions would bring a sense of achievment. like i assume a manager might do in real life when he gets a big job offer with loads more cash.
I disagree with the idea of buying a boat and a mansion because i dont understand what you would do with it but i do think that being an assistant manager or youth coach would be good. I also think being a chairman could be brought into FM but the game would be hard to make fun as there would not be a simple way of determining how much money you had and there would be no pressure
Other than that though i think it would be possible to put these features in the game without destroying it completely

It's called 'Football Manager'
Not 'Spoiled, rich-boys who have so many boats, cars & houses that they lost the passion and can't qualify from mediocre groups Manager'
