I am in 2020 in an Aston Villa game on FM2007. Over the past few years (in game) I have not being buying players, but instead trying to develop my own talent. I have just had the first batch break in to the first team at ages of 19 to 21 and one of them is a wonderkid.

I am wondering if this is common? And if anyone has any experience with home grown world beaters?

Wonderkids coming through youth systems are realistically rare I find.

Sometimes big clubs get them, sometimes little semi-pro clubs in the middle of nowhere. I only remember 1 coming through my youth system. That was in FM 06. He got ****ed that I declined offers from other european teams for him so I unloaded the kid. He had an okay career but his injuries got more and more frequent as the years went on.

I won the premiership for the last few seasons, because basically i have had the same squad for about 6 years, with only 1 or 2 players leaving or arriving each year.

Basically I when I was buying players before, I bought young players that would turn good, hence the 6 years.

But this time instead of buying some many players I am trying to make my own, and it is going quite well.

Strangely though, my bank balance has gone down by about £50m over the past couple of years, which I do not really understand, because as you imply I am spending hardly anything.

Just for your interest my current transfer budget is something like £740m!!!!!! The board are crazy, there is *only* £680m in the bank! Luckily for them I don't even plan to spend 1% of that anyway though.
