is fm slower on vista? i've heard people grumbling that it's more ideal to use xp,
i'm about to buy a new laptop and am wondering if there will be any issues for my fm playing.

I brought a new laptop about a week after FM'08 released. New laptop has vista and runs alot quicker than xp on the old one!

Might have something to do with the bigger spec but hay!!

bought a laptop with windows xp on it last christmas could run 10-12 leagues comfortably. got vista package and i could run 20+ leagues.

don't be a fool,buy with vista!!!

I would have thought it can be slower due to vista needing more RAM than XP to run.

However when you buy a new computer/laptop the specs should be better than your previous one.

I'm on vista, but tbh I've only started playing fm08 yesterday. It seems OK, but my IMPRESSION (so by no means fact) is that it's slower than fm07, on the same machine...

The thing about vista is that it uses a lot of memory compared to xp. If you plan to get a new laptop get one with 2 gb ram.

No its not.

At the moment XP is by far more stable and uses less resources.

If theres a straight choice for FM to perform well then at the moment Id choose XP over Vista easily.

I use Vista and am happy with it but my PC runs noticably slower than it did with XP, and its a dual 2 core E6600 overclocked at 3ghz pc with 2gb ram, 10k raptor hard disk.

Vista will no doubt be better going forward but I couldnt recommend it over XP jut yet.

That doesnt make sense, Vista uses more memory and resources than XP, theres no reason why you would be able to run more leagues.

vista is fine for me. I have a top of the range laptop though. I think if u are running a slower system it may affect it.
