Vista is a dolled-up resource hog that has given birth to a million 'compatibility issue' threads in forums across the internet.
XP with all it's updates and service packs is extremely solid and resource-friendly.
As did XP, as has Leopard, as did ME, as did '98 - your point is mute.
Vista is vastly more prepared for compatibility than XP ever was. Hell I'm even running 64bit and have no drivers issues, no compatibility issues and a performance increase that frankly humps XP.
XP with all it's updates and service packs is extremely bloated and slow.
As for this Vista resource hog ****, Vista utilises more memory as it holds more processes there, it's what makes it better than XP with it's bloody pagefile dragging it's ass an hour behind. Add Readyboost to Vista and your laughing.
Naturally it helps to have 4GB of Corsair XMS2 Pro and an E6850 on an Asus flagship board with all th trimmings, but then that's the perks of working hard. </BLOCKQUOTE>
You sound a little 'passionate' there McFool.
I think I even spotted a bleeped swear word in there!
I've seen people get their panties in a twist on these forums over many 'issues' but never in defense of a Microsoft operating system
Dude, stay in your bedroom counting your RAM cos the real world would kill ya </BLOCKQUOTE>
Heh, not defending it, just not accepting unfounded crap being thrown at those of us using it. The blooper was 'c r a p' which is hardly swearing, merely an accurate description of the suggestions being purported, so trust me there's no twisted knickers here, just knowledge of OS deployment, network design and admin, and global comms which allows me a fairly sharp opinion in the face of rumours and gripes about OS's.
Each has it's perks and quirks, and that's that.
As for the last little jibe, bit childish, kinda thing you get from people with related parents or a sister as a ****-buddy - which are you?
Oooooh, you could almost hear that nerve being touched!
To answer your question...neither. Odd that your mind turns to incest as a debating tool though. Hmmm.
Listen, I've encountered your type before, on forums across a broad range of interests and you're painfully easy to profile
'The Compensator'
Characteristics: Confrontational. Picks petty arguments and attempts to win them through a combination of psuedo-irritation and big words which may well impress some. Frequently quotes facts and figures, their own computer specs in particular (hence 'the compensator' )
Quote: "found the duplicity of threads and loss of argument in previous one a little entertaining in it's desperation"
Summary: The Compensator fights oh-so bravely, with fists clenched and a commitment to the argument!...
...over the safe confines of the internet Despite a preference for big, impressive words and an undoubted ambitions to appear intellectual...the mask frequently slips and swear words are uttered. Tut tut. Safe to assume the compensator hasn't won many real world debates concerning issues that actually matter. Complains bitterly about duplicate threads and seemingly-lost arguments as if they were littering his/her own garden.
Recommended action: Always agree with the compensator. If only to shut them up. In general, it can save an accumulated 9+ hours of the average forum browser's life
Enjoy your future flame wars McDoul, and make you take great personal satisfaction from your victories

Yup, rich indeed, not that it's relevant to the conversation.
No need to be impressed, both threads have been related to peoples speed experience wherein a number of us have shared our specs since they correlate directly to the aforementioned sucject of contention, and I'm as happy sharing those now as I was when I was running a 1.7Ghz Celeron and 512MB of dodgy RAM.... but you'll have been to busy trying to be a sarcy knobjockey to check that out before putting the mighty foot of insecurity in your oh so large mouth.
The thread pertaining to last this years build is over at Hexus and Vista-XP.co.uk where it belongs.
Got anything relevant to the thread to add?
Nah, nothing relevant to add really. My post was almost as irrelevant as your bragging to be honest. I was just worried that some people may miss your 4GB of god knows what (I'm hopeless when it comes to those damn computer things), so I decided to give the whole thread an upper. We don't often see wealthy people in these forums, so you must understand my enthusiasm to share you with our fellow members. May you prosper even more in life. You sound like an ok chap although Mikealdo seems to disagree. Don't mind him, he's just jealous.
Aah Michael, I applaud you, so much effort, and yet it's very presence indicates that I'm the one who hit a nerve especially since you've taken to quoting my accurate assessment of nickdundee's game from an entirely unrelated thread.
..and the incest reference is far from a debating tool, merely an observational supposition in reference to your somewhat agressive and attention seeking behaviour in feeling the need to become to intensely aggrieved at my quoting your factual innacuracies as a textbook example of a mute point.
Never mind, your ilk are notably easier to diagnose, namely Egotistical Idiots profiled through excessive use of self-appreciatory smileys in a vain attempt to rend their posts sharp, witty, or entertaining since the forum in it's glorious anonymity is the only place anyones actually listening (in your eyes), and even then only 'cos it's a seemingly excitable tirade of self importance sprawled needlessly across the page.
Thank you for that wonderful manifestation of the individual angst of one who feels threatened by the extensive vocabulary of others, and is compelled through his own insecurity to challenge such literacy (somewhat ironically given his impotent arguing position), as a sign of arrogance or compensation whilst managing to look entirely quite ignorant through his needless verbal assault in response to being challenged over the subject at hand.
My comments in relation to my Vista findings and experience are entirely in keeping with the subject of the thread, should you feel the need to troll in search of attention please at least try to follow the thread rather than losing your temper like a petulant brat just because I've quoted your unfounded sweeping generalism in relation to Vista and had the 'Mikealdo' enraging audacity to disagree with them.
At least argue your point in relation to the OS's in question and their perceived effects on FM performance rather than having a prepubescent 'pop', especially since the anti-Vista rant combined with a RAM counting jibe simply smacks of someone who's gotten themselves all boxer-shitten over not having a system that can support Vista.
It remains to be seen whether you are prepared to discuss the matter at hand 'slower on vista?' or whether you will pursue this somewhat hypocritical attempt at 'flaming' in the face of open debate and sensible argument.
I still contend that XP also gave birth ' to a million 'compatibility issue' threads in forums across the internet' and that Vista was better prepared.
Now, If you'll be gracious enough to reenter the conversation with the purpose of sharing our FM experiences in lieu of our differing opinions i shall be happy to continue, if not, I suggest you go troll somewhere else.
