I use Vista and am happy with it but my PC runs noticably slower than it did with XP, and its a dual 2 core E6600 overclocked at 3ghz pc with 2gb ram
Try disabling some of the processes running in the background. Doing a spyware scan might also be a good idea. I have a core 2 duo E6550 running at 2.33ghz and 2gb ram and can easily run 22 leagues.

You miss my point, I too can run lots of leagues, but if I ran exactly the same amount under XP it would run quicker.

Theres nothing wrong with my pc but games certainly run slower under Vista than they did under XP.

Vista spanking XP tbh.

Runs much faster, but then so do most things, it's a question of avoiding shitty prebuilds and installing properly.

Vista is a dolled-up resource hog that has given birth to a million 'compatibility issue' threads in forums across the internet.

XP with all it's updates and service packs is extremely solid and resource-friendly.

Better the devil you know...by far

As did XP, as has Leopard, as did ME, as did '98 - your point is mute.

Vista is vastly more preparred for compatibility than XP ever was. Hell I'm even running 64bit and have no drivers issues, no compatibility issues and a performance increase that frankly humps XP.

XP with all it's updates and service packs is extremely bloated and slow.

As for this Vista resource hog ****, Vista utilises more memory as it holds more processes there, it's what makes it better than XP with it's bloody pagefile dragging it's ass an hour behind. Add Readyboost to Vista and your laughing.

Naturally it helps to have 4GB of Corsair XMS2 Pro and an E6850 on an Asus flagship board with all th trimmings, but then that's the perks of working hard.

Wow, you sound very rich. I'm really impressed, well done! I think that's the 2nd thread in which you mention your "out of this world" comp. It's about time you start your own thread about it

Yup, rich indeed, not that it's relevant to the conversation.

No need to be impressed, both threads have been related to peoples speed experience wherein a number of us have shared our specs since they correlate directly to the aforementioned sucject of contention, and I'm as happy sharing those now as I was when I was running a 1.7Ghz Celeron and 512MB of dodgy RAM.... but you'll have been to busy trying to be a sarcy knobjockey to check that out before putting the mighty foot of insecurity in your oh so large mouth.

The thread pertaining to last this years build is over at Hexus and Vista-XP.co.uk where it belongs.

Got anything relevant to the thread to add?

You sound a little 'passionate' there McFool.

I think I even spotted a bleeped swear word in there!

I've seen people get their panties in a twist on these forums over many 'issues' but never in defense of a Microsoft operating system

Dude, stay in your bedroom counting your RAM cos the real world would kill ya
