Forward runs, mentality and counter attacking are linked
If you have set your fb's to fwd runs often then set mentality to ultra defensive you will see that they never make a forward run.
Set mentality to all out attack and they will overlap the wingers.
Set to ultradefensive with counterattack ticked and they will bomb on only when you are counterattacking and stay back during normal buildup play.
However as the mentality slider also affects how they line up on the pitch you need to experiment with the 3 fwdrun notches and mentality untill you get the desired result.
Best way to get a feel for all the different options is to load a standard tactic you like the look of and replay the same game over and over changing one slider at a time to its extreme to see what effect it has.
