review of the session

the first session saw liverpool make a couple of world class signing in van der vart and huntellar for 15M and 8m. A few question marks hangover as liverpool let kuyt and crouch leave the club for modest fees but this has enabled them to boost a small transfer fund with matihaz fernandez another potetnial target for the scousers!

well i wouldnt say this was the best start to a season crashing out of the champions league before it has really got started, despiting dominating both games i eventually lost 3-2 on aggregate to spartak moscow.

In the league it hasnt been a bad start but not brilliant, a 1-0 win at derby got us underway with 6 people making debuts for liverpool it was a test to see how they would adapt to the new fromation.
Next up was blackburn after a good start that saw us take a 2-0 lead at half-time, a rejuvinated blacburn came otu fighting in the second half and took a share of the points.
In the final game of the session liverpool travelled to close rivals bolton and run rampant by winnin 5-1, not to much can be read into this result as bolton are in poor form but the goals will have done wonders for the confidence of the players.

Ratin of session 5/10

Tuesday 13th November - Newcastle United Report

Start of a new season and beggining of a new era. I personally thought things went well with us winning every pre-season friendly! I only managed to bring in one player, which isnt too bad, but as you'll see on my Thursday report, things havent gone well.

Transfers In:

Renato Augusto - £13M

Final Notes:

Copped off at 10pm leaving a capable Newcastle team to finish the rest of pre-season friendlys... where we won them all.

Thursday 15th November - Newcastle United Report

Came on at 7:30pm and had 30mins of sorting things out until we kicked it all off at 8pm. I had high expectations and they prooved to be bad ones. First game of the season, fielded the strongest side I could despite the injurys to Given and Owen (Which were default) and was utterly shocked. Nevermind, once they are both fit, im sure ill bring the good times bck to St James' Park.

Fixtures Played & Results

Newcastle 0 - 2 Tottenham
Newcastle N - N Bolton

As you can see, I kind of forgot the rresults against Bolton...

Manager Comments

Left this time at I think 10:40pm or close to that. Good night overall regarding attendance, certainly not for my Newcastle team!

As expected ive been having a rough time at Derby with no major signings(virtually no money) i went into my two games against Liverpool and Chelsea. Surprisingly we did quite well i think losing to Liverpool 1 0 ( and the goal was a fluke ) and then losing 2 0 to Chelsea ( Drogba scored both goals and they were headers). I analyzed my side and i decided there werent enough coming from the midfield area so i bought (name) from Rangers but it seemed i had made a wrong signing as he publicly said he was using Derby as a stage to advertise himself for bigger clubs and the fans already hate him. But ill stick it out : ) Due to this i decided not to give him a debut against middlesborugh which again was a close a game. Middlesborough in the end we lost 3 2 after a superb come back from 2 0 and we had a goal disallowed and a player sent off. And then they got the late winner : ( Now im looking forward as we have a few more relaxed matches coming up : )

Rob Fitzgerald - Aston Villa.

I was approached a few days ago by Randy Lerner to become the new Aston Villa manager.

I had to think very carefully about this as my family were settled in Spain and I had certainly enjoyed my 3 yr career at Villereal.

Due to Villereal's success I had been approached by a lot of clubs around Europe.

I want to make it clear that although however distracting the constant press speculation and rumour was to myself and everyone connected to the club, I always remained focused and committed to another successful season at Villereal.

However, before my injury stopped my playing career, I had a few great years with Aston Villa.

Villa is a team very close to my heart and I do not think I would have left Villareal for another challenge and another team.

I have decided therefore to accept Mr Lerner's offer to take over the player management of Aston Villa.

Villa is a side with great tradition and I believe that I can give their great fans a brand of football that they will enjoy.

Commentators will probably question the timing of my arrival.
Yes, I have missed the transfer window, but due to the great start the lads have made, I am determined to see what can be improved on the training pitch and seek out the right players to join this club in January.

I have already met the players and coaching staff and we had a long chat after training today.

Make no mistake, I am aware of the challenge and these players start with a clean slate, I got the impression that they are keen to get on with it starting with Fulham at home tomorrow.

I wish the previous manager all the best and hope that he comes back to football management in the future.

I leave a great club, players, setup and fans in Villereal and I know they will enjoy another successful season.
I wish them all the best and I want to thank them for all the support they gave me over a period of time that I will never forget.

So, it's all systems go, I want Villa Park packed to the rafters with a great atmosphere, these players are committed and need all your support.

Rob Fitzgerald

Rob Fitzgerald's Aston Villa match reports: *1

Aston Villa v Fulham: 1st game in charge: WON 2-1, Attendance: 35,904.

Taken over a club who have started extremely well, expectant fans led to a great atmosphere at the beginning of the game.
In the dressing room beforehand, I stressed the importance of setting the standard for the game and 100% concentration all the way through for the game.
The players seemed very eager and the dressing room was buzzing...

Scorers

Zat Knight - 32 mins 1-0

Carew AV - Injury

Clint Dempsey -55 mins 1-1

Ashley Young -83 mins 2-1

Very happy with the determination of the players, after the bad injury that Carew suffered, and conceding a sloppy goal.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa: 2nd game in charge: LOST 3-0, Attendance: 57,983.

Lost an in-form Zat Knight due to an injury suffered in training, but still was confident of a result at a out of form Arsenal.

Scorers

Robin Van Persie - 2 mins 1-0

Denilson - 33 mins 2-0

Adebayor - 82 mins 3-0

Unfortunatley, Arsenal were in one of them moods and showed us a lesson in finishing.
Possession was fairly even, but if you don't score you will never win.
Was looking for a tighter match in regards to scoreline, but fair play to the Arse, they finished superbly.

A disappointing night for Middlesbrough saw us beaten at home by Everton 2-1 where O'Neil scored a late consolation goal for us, and an away defeat to Sunderland 1-0 where goalkeeper Schwarzer put in a man of the match performance.
