News Report: Severe Amnesia in England and Australia (AI Experiment)
Concept
After a lot of discussion about reputation of nations and clubs, I figured it would be a fun experiment to mess around with the reputation of leagues, nations and clubs. This Experiment looks at the effects reputation has on two domestic leagues, being the English and the Australian.
Changed Data
-All English clubs from Blue Square North/South to the premier league have had their reputation set to 8000 (equivalent of Man City).
-All Australian clubs in A-league also have a reputation of 8000
-All English leagues have reputation set to 18 (equivalent of EPL)
-A-League and Australian Finals Series has reputation set to 18.
- Both National teams have reputation of 8000 (England's was originally 8100), and have League Standard set to 18 (Equivalent to normal English standard).
-Importance of football in Australia changed from Not Important to Very Important.
-Addition of an award to determine which club has the largest reputation in England. (Happiness Award )
Expectations
Basically, as the title suggests, I'm expecting the world to go bonkers, as if it forgot the difference between Manchester United and Weston-Super-Mare. The transfer market may very well turn on its side, becoming somewhat of a free market, although teams with currently superior financial situations and squads will most likely retain their position at the top.
There will also undoubtedly be a heavy increase in quality players going to the A-league, as the leagues reputation is almost double its original. It will be interesting to see how this affects the national team, and whether it will make them reach a standard similar to England once the regens start coming through.
Leagues Loaded
English - Down to Blue Square North/South
Australia - A-league
+ Top divisions of Spain, Italy and Germany (to keep consistency in European club competitions and allow for a more active transfer market)
How the experiment will be Monitored
Mainly, it will be through watching the transfer market and league positions. I will post frequent updates on the process of all domestic leagues and the clubs that venture out into international competition, and national team processes. Also, I will keep track of transfer statistics and the richest club statistics. I may also think of more interesting things along the way.
Feel free to make suggestions.
Questions to be answered
1) Will the English teams who were originally on top continue to dominate the domestic competitions, or will it become a very even race?
2) How will the change in reputation effect the transfer market? Will More quality arrive in Australia? Will Premier players start moving to the Conference?
3) Will finances turn out to be the strangle point instead of reputation?
4) How will the national teams fair? Will they see more or less quality from their regens?
5) Is the game self-correcting with reputation? Will Manchester United win the Happiness award consistently?
Hopefully the rest of you think this could be as interesting as I do. If not, and you reply fast enough, I may be able to alter my experiment to take your suggestions into account. Also, if you can think of certain things you'd like me to monitor, feel free to ask and I will add it to my list if I think it will provide greater insight.

This sounds interesting, but as club reputation is changeable, won't "money talk" until normal service is resumed and reputations return to their former levels.
Not sure at this stage what the sugnificance of the Australian set-up in the experiment will prove though .
Very interesting though .

Obviously not much has happened as of yet. All the teams seem to have the same media prediction for the year. I'm unsure on whether these are stuck as their initial figures at the beginning of the year, or whether it is based on squad ratings. Regardless, it sure isn't based on reputation.
Well, not too many surprises there. Except maybe the move of Jon Arne Riise from Liverpool to Wigan. Not only is this the first unrealistic transfer, but he also has an unrealistic general happiness. I mean, who would be pleased to join Wigan?
No games have been played as of yet, except maybe the odd friendly. No international matches have been played either. So for this month, there is only the slight oddity of Riise to report. No doubt any significant results will come from this experiment as transfer windows hot up, and as teams are promoted and relegated.

After going through two more months, I've decided that it would be best to update the experiment on a biannual basis (end of year for national progress, and end of season for domestic results). Although there have been some quite strange results. Including a hilarious news item. The Premier League is also looking quite odd at the moment.

It appears the Premiership teams are having a bit of trouble getting player. Normally Chelsea pay about 13M for Pandev, in this game they had to shell out 31M, and it looks that way across the board. 5.5M for DeRosario? I may be a Canuck but even I have limits!
