Try to make sure that your sign-up idea is original. Original sign-ups are more likely to get people signing up to them, which should help keep this forum alive.

Give as much information you can in the opening post, and proof read. This should help avoid you missing anything vital and having to post it afterwards where many people will miss it.

Post regular updates. As simple as it seems, this is where most sign-ups fail, so keep the thread regularly updated with what is happening in the game.

Make sure the people that sign-up know that they have to post in the thread and check the updates. This is another common reason for sign-ups ending, lack of posts from users active in the sign-up. This can be done by stating something in the opening post about what you require of them as users in your sign-up.

This forum has got a good reputation of being spam free, try and keep it that way with a constant supply of updates to give the participants something to post about.

Running a sign-up requires a lot of work. Don't post a sign-up if you don't have the tenacity to see it through. This will just contribute to more dead-wood threads clogging up the forum.

Respect the user running the sign-up. His decision is final, and has the power to kick you out.

Don't abuse other users in the thread. Friendly banter is fine, but keep the thread in a friendly manner, don't ruin it for other people.

Tell the user running the sign-up if you are going away for a few weeks, or won't be able to post. This way the user running the sign-up knows, and won't get frustrated at you not posting.

Don't sign-up if you are not going to post in the thread. This just makes more hassle for the user running the sign-up. Only sign-up if you are serious about participating in the thread.

Keep things on-topic. If you limit the amount of off-topic posting you do, it makes the forum much easier to handle for everyone involved.

Sign-Ups - a guide to starting/taking part Post #2
And don't start a sign-up if you can't get on the internet enough to update it. Or if your internet is so slow it takes 30 minutes to upload a screenshot.
Or in my case, both.
