Shetland Islands vs Orkney Islands Scottish 3rd Division - 9.9.2006
In a very one sided game, Shetland Islands romped to a historic first official victory over rivals Orkney, with Chris Bamble starring.
Shetland started well, and somehow
Bamble didn't make it 1-0 on 15 mins, the keeper at a stupid angle and by the looks of it it was an open goal, but he dragged it wide. There were further chances in the first half hour for Shetland, and Orkney had an attempt pushed away by
Thomson.
But Shetland took a deserved lead on 31 mins,

Bamble, who beat Ryan Evans for pace, and slotted the ball home low inside the near post.

Just two minutes into the second half, Shetland doubled their lead. An Argentina-esque passing move, similar to the one in the World Cup, let to
O'Kelly rolling the ball to
Bamble, who spun past Evans and fired low into the corner. I counted about 12 quick passes in the seconds before that goal.
Shetland fans went wild on 53 mins, when they grabbed a sensational third.
Maradona turned brilliantly to avoid the challenge of two Orkney players, and he set through
Bamble, who easily slotted the ball past the Orkney keeper, and to score his second hat-trick of the season.
Shetland rubbed salt into Orkney's wounds on 75 mins, with
Al-Dahash's early ball finding
Bamble yet again, who used his pace to beat the defenders, drag the keeper out, and fire in from an angle.
Orkney managed to get a foothold in the game in the last 10 minutes, with
Thomson forced into two very good saves from Jon-McTyler headers, but he was offside in both moves.

An amazing result, not only did we win well, but we absolutely dominated them for the whole game, we can give them the last 10 mins.
The return of Tarray in defence was important, and of course Bamble's slick finishing.
