Berwick vs Shetland Islands Scottish 3rd Division - 26.8.06
Shetland battled back from 2-0 and somehow didn't get a win in a game they dominated.
Despite only 15 players WITHOUT any kind of injury, we battled onto the pitch, and
Rhys Howells was included in the voice for the first time this season, despite still not having full recovered from ankle ligament damage.
Berwick took the lead against the run of play, when
Crouch's rash decision to come out was costly, and it led on the Berwick strikers passing it around the Shetland keeper and for Diack to score.
Shetland got their equaliser 10 minutes later, when
Maradona curled home a free-kick from 25 yards, as a result of Garry Wood's red card.
Berwick took another undeserved lead on 33 mins, when Norman's through ball was left by
McTrucker, who let it roll onto Diack for his 2nd goal.
Shetland were level on 42 mins, when
Maradona turned well in the box to free
O'Dahl who scored a good goal.
HT Score: Berwick 2-2 Shetland Islands
Shetland controlled the second half, but somehow
O'Kelly couldn't finish after a great move by the team, and
O'Dahl made a brilliant run, ended with a one-on-one, but could only hit it at the keeper.
Strangely (and annoyingly) enough, there were no highlights in the last 20 mins, despite how close we had just been to scoring on several occasions.
FT Score: Berwick 2-2 Shetland Islands
One of those games where big errors let us down, and it was a game we should (and deserved) to win. McTrucker and Crouch need to look hard at themselves in the mirror for their mistakes and sort it out.
My MoM is Francesco Maradona, not only a great free-kick, but also assisted the other goal.
