Shetland Islands vs Albion Rovers Scottish 3rd Division - 5th August 2006
Shetland Islands got off to a great start in the Scottish league with a convincing win against Albion Rovers.
Shetland took their good late pre-season form into this game, and after just 10 minutes,
Tarray rose highest from
Fairgrieve's corner to head Shetland into the lead and to score his and the club's first ever competitive goal.
Shetland continued to attack, and on 18 mins,
O'Dahl broke clear only to see his goal disallowed.
HT Score: Shetland Islands 1-0 Albion Rovers
O'Dahl got his goal 16 minutes into the second half,
Maradona's shot across goal was saved, but fell kindly to the feet of his striker partner who tapped in for 2-0.
Albion began to press slightly, but Shetlands killed them off on 72 mins, when
Drewe's low ball into the box was controlled and converted by
Maradona.
A very good performance by the team today, we were sharp up front and finished well. We even resisted Albion on the few attacks that they had, mainly at 1-0 so it was vital that we did stop them. A good win
My MoM is Sean O'Dahl, he moved well up front, and really deserved two goals instead of one. Maradona had a 9 as well which somehow dropped to a 7.
