What would a football manager prefer to have - a backbone or some wings? (AI Experiment) Post #41 | | Joe Blow

Great updates WW.
Just one small request. In your first few updates you posted the results of the match (ie 1 - 0, etc), but in the last couple you havent - although you have posted screen dumps so I can check.
Is it possible to post the actual result as done previously, as it saves having to open every screen dump (or are you deliberatly not posting the scores so people have to open the screen dump. If so fair enough).
Thank said, great work, keep it up!

I did a similar experiment in FM 2007 some time ago.
I provided 11 Star players to the Indian team, covering all positions on the field.
In the club scenario, these players were soon snapped up by the likes of Real madrid, Bracelona, Chelsea, Man Utd etc
But in the international stage, India's results didnt improve much.
They Continued to beat the likes of Pakistan and Sri Lanka , who they would beat even in real life
but despite having the star players they couldnt even beat third rung asian sides like malaysia or yemen in WC qualifiers.
then i did another experiemnt, using the same players
This time i changed India's stats like reputaion and importance of football...
The result? India began beating Asian giants like Saudi arabia and japan 7-0 !!
therefore, i think that the countries stats have far more importance than just chaging players stats

| My guess is that you didn't set the detail level to full for India's games. If the detail level isn't on full, the game uses reputation to calculate results. If it's set correctly for this type of experiment, the star players will make a huge impact, even if rep is still low. I tried this with Andorra, and with detail level minimum they finished last in their qualifiers for every tournament. When I changed the detail level, they absolutely destroyed the likes of Germany and Romania.

Both teams are both not very good as the November 2007 World Rankings show, so who do you think will win, why and who do you think will be the star performers?
| American Samoa win 3-0, their striker wins man of the match.

Up till now, the wingers seem to be having the upper hand. I hope the backboners will turn the table in this match. Goalie and Striker will be the key men in the match.
