Don't write any new files to your hard drive until you try the rescue software!!!

Serious, I just hope that you typed that message on a different computer. Even one click in a browser creates temporary internet files that might overwrite your images.
Next time when this happens again; turn off your computer immediately! After that you'll need to boot from a rescue floppy or CD and try to recover the files from there. Ask help from friends or ask people on the internet for help, but don't use that same computer to ask for help.
