I'm thinking about setting up an experimental database for an AI experiment and would like your thoughts.
The Premise: To create 4 fictional teams to test which aspect of a club makes them succesful. Place 2 in the BS North and 2 in the BS South, and see which ones rise the ladder the fastest, if at all.
The four areas I'm looking at are Finances, Youth Setup, Coaching Ability (including the manager), and Club Stature.
Basically each team would be average for their division apart from certain espects...
Team 1 would be incredibly rich.
Team 2 would have excellent youth players and facilities.
Team 3 would have world class coaches, and training facilities.
Team 4 would have a sound base for a club, such as a high reputation, and a huge stadium.
Any ideas you have that I may have overlooked are welcome, as is any constructive criticism of the idea!
I'm still thinking things through really, I'd like to hear other peoples ideas too, but I think I'm going to opt for all new staff and players created using the editor, seeing as I'm going to create 4 new clubs from scratch.
And yes it will be a holiday game.
I didn't realise there was a seperate forum for threads like these, so yeah, I can see this thread being moved which is fine by me!
It's a good experiment and anyway with FM 08 now having got a big patch and what could be the last one it will get, it's not too early for experiments of AI.
My only suggestion would be to not give the team with world-class managers/staff, also great training facilities. That would be a bit too much.
Instead, let Club B who has excellent youth system be the only one with also excellent training facilities.
That way, assuming the players are the exact duplicates between these 4 clubs, we can see the short and long-term effects of 'Money' vs. 'Facilities' vs. 'Backroom staff' vs. Stature/Fan-base.

because reputation will attract fans and therefore money, with which you can afford better players that are more likely to accept due to the club's rep.
You should also be able to retain players more easily.
Possibly get better regens too?
Sounds good, hope this is a long-termer.
team 4 look the goods, although 2 will probably do well in the early leagues-depending on how good 'excellent' means.
I think other experiments have shown that rich clubs need a while to work their way up.
