I'm thinking about slightly altering the criteria for teams 2 and 3.

Instead, I think team 2 should have the players (young and old) but not the facilites.

And I think team 3, as PLF suggested, should have the training facilities and the youth facilities to facilitate their world-class coaching.

This adjustment would be fairer and the test will be more clearly defined as being Money vs Players vs Facilites vs Club Status.

Basically, I will create 4 new clubs from scratch with equal club stats, and equal staffing and players (although I will change the names and nationalities from squad to squad).

All 4 clubs will be equal, apart from their specific test criteria which shall be adjusted to suit the test.

Interesting idea!

My suggestion: just make sure to make absolutely everything equal between the 4 clubs, except the 4 things you want to measure.
Same players, same nationalities, etc. If you don't do that, you'll have more intervening factors that you won't be able to measure.

Hope you keep us updated about the experiment.

Interesting post. I'll be following this as well. And I think I'd go for team 4 as well. At least in the long term

From experience (FM2006/07) I back the rich team to do the best, certainly initially, although in the long term they'll most likely end up back where they came from.

Team 2 will inevitably get their superior youngsters signed from them by bigger clubs, with team 3 possibly facing that problem with coaches. They also won't have the finance to compete with Team 1.

Team 4 in the very long term will be the most stable, providing they have a large fan base to fill their stadium, otherwise they could face financial problems.

i guess that the team with the better players will get promotion and the team with the big reputation (unless they sign some good players fast) may miss out on promotion and their rep will drop after a full season in non league.
out of interest does anyone know how much their rep will drop in a season playing non league?
interesting experiment

I'd just like to note that this may be a short while off yet, as I'm finding it quite a long and mundane task to make all these new players and staff!

I'll try and get it done ASAP but for the meantime feel free to post any ideas you might have and I might include them.

Also, if you would like to be a new player or coach in one of the new teams then feel free to sign up here....just need your name, DOB, nationality, preferred position, I think that's all.

I've also decided I'm going to kill two birds with one stone. I'm going to have a bit of a subplot going on. I've always wanted to see an absolute minnow of international football exceed at international level. I'm going to give Comoros of Africa a whole bunch of youth players aged 14-18 with the potential to make it, and see if some years down the line they can manage to win the World Cup.

That is all.

Hell, Tom Allen, 5th January 89, Centre of the midfield, might as well throw my name in. I'm English.

I've very interested in this because I usually gamble on getting better youth ahead of getting better training facilities.

Be nice to see whether this is justified.

I think you should make chairmen a part of your experiment somehow. Maybe have 8 teams instead of the original 4 and make the other 4 have a completely different kind of chairman? Obviously the original 4 would have to have similar or maybe exactly the same chairmen, while the other 4 would have exactly opposite chairmen but same idea. Creating 8 teams from scratch is not an exciting prospect though I'm afraid.

BTW I'll sign up if you need players or coaches to create.
