Well £21,762,176 of it has gone on transfers in January. There was an increase in wages which wouldn't have helped. I can only assume the rest went on signing on fees.

holy crap, they're all doing it. if liverpool spent their transfer budget they'd be £15m in the red! why would the AI managers be spending like this? unless they achieve massive sucess its just suicide...

Lets see if it happens on a consistent basis or if it was due to the manager having poor stats and/or the chairman having high ambition.

I think it is due to that, they are currently 6th and are pushing for a Champions league place.

The next installment will be up soon.

Season 2008/2009 1st June 2009

All wages are based on a weekly basis. Bank balance and wage increase figures stated are rounded. Results are compared to 1st September.

Quick Summary: Most clubs have positive balances. However most of these are in decline with only Arsenal really looking strong. Derby and Fulham are the only clubs to have a negative balance at this stage. Clubs don’t seem capable of holding onto their money well however with bank balances down £210m on the same time last year (Arsenal have control of 32% of money in these clubs). Wage wise Birmingham and Sunderland are the only clubs that are currently over their wage budgets. Clubs are spending £1,697,608 per week more than last season. All of the championship clubs (Derby, Fulham and Reading) made a return to the premiership. The championship is a worry though as all saw their bank balances reduce between £16-22m. This should be a concern for Birmingham and Sunderland who were both relegated. Tottenham replaced Liverpool in the Champions League so Liverpool should be an interesting team to watch for next season. Overview

Arsenal Finished the league in 2nd. Their bank balance was 25m higher than the start of the season finishing on £110m. Birmingham Finished in 19th. Their bank balance was £3m higher than the start of the season finishing on £9m. Wages finished on £472,444 increasing by around £40,000 from the start of the season. Wages are £24,425 over budget and the club made a loss of £7m. Championship next season so improvements to finances need to be made.

Blackburn Finished in 7th. Their bank balance was £4 lower than the start of the season finishing on £7m. Wages finished on £570,567 increasing by around £30,000 from the start of the season. Wages are £53,674 under budget and the club made a loss of £12m. EURO Vase next season.

Bolton Finished in 11th. Their bank balance was £4m higher than the start of the season finishing on £7m. Wages finished on £529,281 increasing by around £9,000 from the start of the season. Wages are £37,597 under budget and the club made a loss of £10m.

Chelsea Finished in 1st. It came at great cost however as their bank balance was £68m lower than the start of the season finishing on £9m. Wages finished on £1,524,019 cutting around £20,000 from the start of the season. Wages are £361,698 under budget and the club made a loss of £70m. Champions League next season but they can’t continue spending at this level.

Derby Finished 2nd in the championship. Their bank balance was £17m lower than the start of the season putting them on -£4m. Wages finished on £348,950 increasing by around £10,000 from the start of the season. Wages are £12,202 under budget and the club made a loss of £14m.
