Hi all,

Just started on this site. The person sells wood products. Mainly military items and kids furniture. Hard subject to make a site around.

Any thoughts on the current look? All comments appreciated...good and bad.

There will be a small gallery and a shopping cart. All to match the site. Only the main page 90% complete.

Here is the owners old site:

Infinitely better than the old site, Hatch. I wondered if you could get a little wood grain effect in the layout. How about a wood grain saw blade or the title bar behind the Title. I really wanted to see the big wooden blocks. They are a clever design. One area of confusion. Does he make the military display cases or only sell them? On his original page it seems that these guys are 'affiliates,' whatever that means.

Hi Wells,

Gald you like the look. They know each other... the old brown site is going to be something different...one guy in PA...one in Mississippi. He sells both display cases and childrens furniture. I have the cart going for the other site...all but the payment gateway. Will post it here once it is up and running for some fine tune critiques. :-) Thanks for the comments.

Looks nice. Very Clean. You seem to have some broken links on the bottom though. The blocks are a clever idea. Cute kid. Overall very pleasing. [righton]

One thing I would like to mention; you kept the size of this page quite small; about 60KB, which is very good. [righton]

Compare that with the old site 2.43MB (read 2,430Kb!). You know what that means? [innocent] That means that this new site will load 40 (!) times faster. Please don't forget to mention this to the person you're doing this for.

All images on the old sites are GIF files, which is in general a wrong choice when you're dealing with photographs

Thank you all for the great comments. Not a bad start so far. The links on the bottome are null...just as a temp. Two of the links will go .php files later down the road and at this moment in time I do not know what the url will be. I was shocked to see the file size of the old site. 2.5 mb is really crazy. Tried to keep the file sizes as low as possible. Much more work to accomplish. Many thanks again.
