Arbroath 09/10 update
well, before I start talking to you about my season as a whole, let me tell you about the loanees that Dundee United sent me.
Ashley Roberts, a 16 year old goalkeeper who desperately wanted some first team experience, and when he got it, he made the most of it! He played most of my games, and only didnt play them all because he had a month out with a calf injury. I was delighted with him as a whole and he made up for my very dodgy defence and kept 6 clean sheets. I'm going to try and get him for another season and hopefully he can get me moving up the league.
Leon Davis, an 18 year old right back, who shone for me in the latter stages of the season. After a dodgy first half of the season i considering sending him back to dundee united, but decided to stick with him, and just as well he did, playing very well and producing half of a very solid right hand side of my team. I doubt i'll try and get him again for another season, I will however be looking to try and get another defender from dundee united, and my definding up to this time has been worse than dodgy at times.
Loanee number three was eddie kenneth, and he was my star midfielder. I played him in the centre of midfield with a barrow to move him into DM to try and bolster my defence and make it harder for teams to break them down. Played every league game, and i will definately be trying to sing him up permanantly as i was very impressed with him.
Stuart Whitehead was by far the best loanee that dundee united sent me this season. On the first of january he had scored 15 goals in 16 games, which is a very very impressive goal record. At the end of the season he had scored 18 goals in 21 appearences. He had a bad injury which kept him out of action for two months which was a bit of a gutter, however he made the most of first team experience when he got it. I am going to try and either get him on loan again or even sign him permanently, because i think he could be a good player all the way up to the first division. I also hope he improves further as a player and can help me score enough goals to do well in the league next season.
Anyway onto my actual season...
Another ****ing disaster, sorry for swearing but my frustration is starting to really get to me, i even found myself giving players two week fines for getting 5's in the ratings lol.
The final
league table tells all that needs to be told, and again i finished 9th.
The club
confidence again tells all that needs to be told, and truth be told i reckon i am now as frustrated at my team as they are with me, and I really want to do them proud next season and finish in the playoff spots, just to show a good improvement in the team.
My
best player that wasnt a loanee was this man. I managed to sign him up on a 3 year contract, so he will be here for a while and I hope he improves further and helps my overall team in the future.
Well onto my fourth season at arbroath, and my own personal goal is to finish in a playoff spot as I would like to get the board back on my side and keep my job for another season or two so that I can get them promoted to the second division. I have to admit, I am looking forward to my fourth season here, as I am starting to get attached to some of my players and i like the club, so i am motivated to do well, and I have a new tactic to test out in my friendly matches, so I'm looking forward to next season.
See you all soon for my fourth season update.
