What do you predict will happen?

Which team, excluding the 2006/07 season, will have been the most successful ten seasons in this experiment?

Port Nelson Admirals will proably do very well, but the key is going to be whoever establishes themselves early on.

Who will triumph in the first season?

Jasque (yeah, I cheated)

Will the potential star players in each team move on to bigger clubs abroad?

Only once they've establised themselves at home.

Will the stars stay within the First Division as they're in the top competition in their country?

Most will, but those who perform on the european satge will probably be lured away.

Which team would you support out of the 16 clubs?

I'm a neutral at the moment. But I won't remain that way.

How key will the parent club links be?

Those in active leagues will be most effective.

Can an Ellisian team win one of a European competition?

Only if a couple of clubs establish themselves as the top teams. If the ability is spread throughout the leagues long term, then no chance.

Any other thoughts?

This is a great Idea for an expeiment. I'll be following.

Thanks for all the nice comments, really appreciated, motivates me to continue

I'll answer queries now:

are the clubs signing players mainly from england/scotland or is it more varied?
Pretty much, most of the signings by the teams seem to be from the English and Scottish leagues, particularly young talent either in Scottish clubs outside the Old Firm or at English clubs from the bottom of the Premiership to League One/Two.

I'm afraid not, and that's for two reasons. One, that I don't want people simulating ahead with my experiment thereby spoiling it and stealing my idea, and two, the database currently doesn't work with patch 8.01, I have raised this with SI, but have also an older version I created during the beta patch stage as a backup that works when setting up a game under the full patch (this version doesn't). I'm slowly updating the old version up to the current version so I have a version that works with the new patch. It's a slow process.

I do promise however that when this experiment has run its course, or at a suitable time down the line, I will make the database freely available to those who want it. That I will do.

Who gets promoted to the 2nd division?
Two original Northern Irish teams (I Didn't put any clubs into the Third Division and just moved all N.Ireland First Division clubs into that division). Portadown and another team I cannot remember, hopefully they won't make it to the First Division.

I hope to be doing a statistical update for the end of the first season tonight. (Changes in values, stadiums, and other details etc).

Port Nelson also sacked their manager for failing to meet expectations, which were a title challenge, they now have the former long-serving Colchester manager, Geraint Williams.

Birth of a New Nation

Club Overview for Season 2008/2009

AFC Posul

Value: £4.9m (Loan Debt: £6m)
Stadium Name: The Puffin Barrow
Stadium Capacity: 24,272
City: Port Nelson
Prediction: 12th
Training: Average
Youth: Average
No affiliations

AFC Posul are quintessentially English, the club was founded by the English aristocracy in 1900 and only turned professional ten years ago but have risen up the leagues since. Their fierce rivals are Old Castle Swifts and their other rivals are Shasarazade and Wegason. Having won the Second Division, they'll be looking to solidify their position in the top division and remain here with the other two Port Nelson clubs.

Argyres Myrmidons

Value: £17.25m (Loan Debt: £14.5m)
Stadium Name: Herodotus Stadium
Original Capacity: 26,400
Current Capacity: 35,685
Future Capacity: 47,600
City: Adelphia
Prediction: 4th
Training: Good
Youth: Good
Parent Club: Real Madrid

Argyres struggled in the league but performed strongly in the Intertoto Cup. Predicted 4th last year they finished 10th, which is where they are predicted to finish this season.

Diamond Heights

Value: £9.25m
Stadium Name: The Quarry
Stadium Capacity: 27,750
City: Shangrila
Prediction: 16th
Training: Average
Youth: Average
Parent Club: Valencia

Diamond Heights played above all expectations by finishing 13th in the league but that has not stopped them being predicted for the drop this season. We’ll see if they’ll avoid the drop again.

Faradafry

Value: £4.1m
Stadium Name: Calamint Road
Stadium Capacity: 19,000
City: Faradafry
Prediction: 15th
Training: Good
Youth: Average
Parent Club: Benfica

Faradafry City were predicted to come 13th and came 14th, if they finish below their prediction this year they will be relegated. Their two stars, Gail Wynand and Colin Wash are wanted by bigger teams, and their young star defender, Walter Mildmay, is leaving for Crystal Palace. If the two stars leave and they don’t replace them with quality during the transfer window, they’ll go down.

FC Jasque

Value: £16m (Debt £38m)
Stadium Name: Bastiat Crescent
Original Capacity: 26,894
New Capacity: 44,077
Future Capacity: 56,321
City: Nodnol
Prediction: 1st
Training: Good
Youth: Good
Parent Club: Olympique Lyonnais

The champions, if they maintain their squad and add to it with quality additions, as well as getting some good players in from their parent, should be challenging for the title next season at the minimum.

Grimme Athletic

Value: £8.25m (Debt £3.5m)
Stadium Name: Wein Park
Original Capacity: 22,320
New Capacity: 29,430
City: Grimme
Prediction: 6th
Training: Average
Youth: Average
Parent Club: FC Bayern Munich

Grimme Athletic were the biggest overachievers in Ellisian football having been predicted to be struggling near the bottom they secured a place in the Intertoto Cup through a 4th position thanks to a great end of season run. Their stars are wanted but if they keep hold of them, and perhaps add some quality players they could push on for a title challenge, they’ll most likely finish in the top four again.

Lantisia City

Value: £9.25m
Stadium Name: Witterbach Stadium
Stadium Capacity: 32,500
City: Lantisia
Prediction: 2nd
Training: Good
Youth: Good
Parent Club: Sporting Lisbon

They took FC Jasque to the last day of the season and gave a spirited performance in the qualifying stages of the Champions League, they’ll most likely maintain their top club status.

Newtonia

Value: £4.2m
Stadium Name: Isaac Street
Stadium Capacity: 18,000
City: Newtonia
Prediction: 14th
Training: Avg
Youth: Avg
Parent Club: AC Milan

They came where they were predicted last season, 12th, 14th is the prediction this year and is probably a fair one though there is a distinct possibility they'll struggle and face a big relegation battle.

Nodnol City

Value: £17m (Loan Debt: £15.5m)
Stadium Name: The Temple
Original Capacity: 30,450
New Capacity: 47,153
City: Nodnol
Prediction: 9th
Training: Avg
Youth: Good
Parent Club: Chelsea

Their predicted to come where they finished last season, 9th, which is a fair prediction, some astute signings and the development of their talented youngsters could see this Fabien Barthez led team push further up the table.

Port Nelson Admirals FC

Value: £113m
Stadium Name: Trafalgar Park
Stadium Capacity: 85,000
Prediction: 5th
Training: Avg
Youth: Excellent + YA
Parent Club: Inter Milan

The Port Nelson Admirals are the biggest team in the land but bombed last season, they sacked their manager and hope to challenge better this season. Their value should see them able to buy some success in the transfer market, a prediction of 5th may be far fetched unless they buy in some talent.

San Angel Club Eagles

Value: £9.75m (Debt £3.5m)
Stadium Name: Estadio Azteca
Original Capacity: 19,110
Current Capacity: 26,081
City: San Angel
Prediction: 7th
Training: Adequate
Youth: Adequate
Parent Club: Barcelona

The San Angel Club Eagles finished well above their predicted 11th to come 6th, a great season. They’re predicted to do quite well this season as well, which seems realistic.

Shasarazade FC

Value: £6.5m
Stadium Name: Shangrila Gardens
Stadium Capacity: 39,500
City: Shangrila
Prediction: 8th
Training: Avg
Youth: Avg
Parent Club: FC Porto

Finishing above their predictions last year in 7th compared to 9th the Slicing Hammers will look to add to their attacking credentials in the transfer market and seek glory for Shangrila.

Stravchine Balanvinski

Value: £18.5m
Stadium Name: Varburn Stadium
Stadium Capacity: 57,545
Prediction: 13th
Training: Good
Youth: Good
Parent Club: Sevilla

Finishing in 15th when they were predicted to be 3rd Balanvinski went through three managers in the season. The hiring of Mike Pritchard saved them as they had the best run of form in the league during the last five games.

United Commonwealth Club

Value: £11.75m
Stadium Name: Steward's Centre
Original Capacity: 24,000
Current Capacity: 36,720
City: Malastaire
Prediction: 4th
Training: Good
Youth: Good
Parent Club: Juventus

Narrowly missing out on a Intertoto place by finishing in 5th United Commonwealth Club, with an abundance of talent, they’d be looking to progress onto greater things.

Wegason Dragons

Value: £30m (Debt £8.5m)
Stadium Name: The Octagon
Original Capacity: 40,000
Current Capacity: 53,785
City: Port Nelson
Prediction: 11th
Training: Avg
Youth: Avg
Parent Club: Manchester United

Predicted to come 15th last season they finished a strong 8th but whether they can build on this is doubtful as they’ve sold their captain, Hank Rearden to United Commonwealth Club, and star young striker Ragnar Danneskjold to Dundee United.

Whitefield United

Value: £7.25m (Debt £8.5m)
Stadium Name: Pennyroyal Crescent
Original Capacity: 21,500
Current Capacity: 31,942
City: Whitefield
Prediction: 3rd
Training: Avg
Youth: Avg
Parent Club: Arsenal

Finishing well above expectations, they were big overachievers last season and will look to make the most of their UEFA Cup birth.

RELEGATED CLUBS

Bozarburg

Value: £11.25m (Debt £6.5m)
Stadium Name: Red Lion Park
Original Capacity: 36,000
Current Capacity: 50,122
City: Bozarburg
Prediction: 1st
Training: Average
Youth: Good
Parent Club: Roma

They will be looking to bounce immediately back, as the media expects them to, from their disappointing relegation. As their youngsters mature they should be able to climb back into the First Division, perhaps at the first attempt.
