The losses last month were €25,120, that will have to be cut.

I go back to my first club, TNS and sign Yann Synaeghel on a free when he contract ends on June 30th, I'd have liked to sign others but with no money you have to snap up hat you can on free's. I also pick up 23 year old Belgian Laurent Dohet who's happy at left back or an attacking midfielder. His contract with Olympic Charleroi ends at the end of the month and then he will come to Italy on a free.

Off season ramblings

June 3rd - appointed 31 year old Li Xiaopeng as assistant manager and 36 year old Singaporean Egmar as a coach

June 8th - with a total lack of Italian coaches who want to sign for Cavese Egmar helps me recruit 36 year old Steve Tan, another Singaporean.

June 13th - Signed 19 year old keeper Alex Valentini on a free from Serie C1 side Pistoiese. He will join on July 1st when his current contract runs out.

June 21st - signed 24 year old Albanian defender Endri Ndreka on a free from Albanian side Vllaznia, he has been capped 8 times by Albania scoring twice. Ndreka is comfortable in all defensive positions and will join us when his current contract expires on June 30th.

June 22nd - Signed a 20 year old keeper on a free from Belgium side Royal Antwerp. Sander Kevelaerts has played for four clubs but has yet to make a senior start, he will join at the end of the month when he current contract expires.

June 25th - agreed to send 24 year old backup keeper Riccardo Rodomonti to Fermana on a free.

July Transfer Window opens

Our five new players arrive at the club and to balance the books eight players are released at the end of their contracts. The net result of this is we are only €2,000 over budget with the wage bill.

July 7th - We sign 20 year old striker Marco Milton on a free. He was released by Udinese where he had been for four years without making an appearance.

July 8th - 20 year old central defender Emanuele Di Ciccio has joined us. He has been without a club since Lazio released him after five years in the youth system there.

July 9th – Andrea Capone, a 26 year old left winger who is also comfortable up front becomes the last player I intend to bring in. He was released by Cagliari when his contract ran out, he had made 100 senior appearances scoring 10 times including loan spells at Sora and last season at Treviso.
All of this transfer activity has left us €6.3K over the weekly wage budget, it probably won't please the board too much but I hope through my new signings I've turned Cavese from a side in the relegation playoffs to a mid-table or better side.

In the end there is another bit of business to be done. Serie B side Cesena have released 21 year old keeper Thomas Gallinucci so we snap him up on a free. The three young keeper's we have will now fight it out for top spot, last year's first choice, Roberto Mancinelli could be on the way to Taranto as they bid €10,000 for him.

Pre-Season Games

July 21st - Anagni v Cavese

We took the lead on 11 minutes when Ndreka's deep fre kick was headed against the bar by Marco Milton and Alberto Castioni was on hand to tuck in the rebound. Milton's 47th minute cross left Francesco Sanetti with a simple tap-in and Milton jinked past the defence 10 minutes later for a goal of his own. An own goal wrapped up the scoring. Yann Synaeghel was commanding in midfield and Di Ciccio didn't miss much at the back. Alex Valentini and Sander Kevelaerts both played a half in the net.

Roberto Mancinelli completes his €10,000 move to Taranto of Serie C2/C.

July 24th - Cavese v Cittadella

Today we host Cittadella fron Serie C1. The visitors grab the lead midway through the first half when we fail to deal with a free kick and Zoboli's shot is deflected past Kevelaerts. We held our own against higher opposition and were rewarded with an equaliser on 67 minutes. Ibekwei swerved past one defender and then chipped the ball over another to Sanetti who ran on and drove it in off the post. A good result against a side that finished 5th in Serie C1 last year.

The draw for the Serie C cup group stages has put us in group J along with Juve Stabia (C2/C), Salernitana (C1/A), Potenza (C1/B) and Brindisi (C2/C). With only the top two sides in each group going through to the first round we will struggle to advance here.
Andrea Capone is very tired according to Li Xiaopeng so I allow him an extra two week break as I feel he's going to get through a lot of work this season.

Thursday 26th July 2007

We complete the signing of two Scottish coaches, 36 year old Eoin Jess and 36 year old John Spencer.
In the evening the reserves friendly with Parma U20's ends 1-1 thanks to Marco Milton's 91st minute headed equaliser.

Friday 27th July 2007

Our coaches have been scouring the area for any promising youths for our reserves and U20's and today we signed a couple of the prospects.19 year old right winger Frederico Casadei and 19 year old striker Ciro De Luca.

July 29th - Igea Virtus v Cavese

Marco Milton's third minute penalty after Castioni had been pushed over in the box gave us a flying start but it was a dour match. The home side equalised after half an hour and there was precious else to write home about.

21 year old striker David Solari has joined us on a seasons loan from Serie B side Napoli. Over the last three seasons David has scored 40 goals in 65 appearances for amateur side Chioggia Sottomarina. Also arriving is 33 year old midfielder Mario Alfieri, a €1,000 signing from Alto Adige. He is a veteran of 254 appearances for eight different clubs.

For the trip to Angri, who have just be promoted to Serie C2/C, Solari is included in the side and Valentini starts in goal. This was a commanding performance which would have been won more convincingly if our forwards could shoot straight. Instead we had to settle for two second half Sanetti goals, the first when he picked up Solari's chip over the defence and the second from the spot.

In the first two games in our Serie C cup group Brindisi beat Potenza 2-1 while Salernitana drew 1-1 with Juve Stabia.

August 16th - Cavese v Cremonese
In our final pre season first team game we entertain Serie C1 side Cremonese. In a game of few chances the defenses are on top and it finishes 0-0.

Alex Valentini 19 year old signed in the off season on a free from Pistoiese. He made 17 appearances on loan to Serie C2 side Cecina conceding 24 goals with 3 clean sheets

Sander Kevelaerts 21 year old signed in the off season from Antwerp where he made his one and only senior appearance.

Thomas Gallinucci 21 year old signed as a free agent during the off season. He made his only six appearances on loan last season at relegated Sansovino, conceding six with one clean sheet.

DEFENDERS

Enri Ndreka 24 year old Albanian comfortable in all defensive positions. He has made 66 appearances in Albania, scoring 7 times and has 9 international caps with 2 goals.

Marco Ferrari 20 year old right back in his 3rd season at Cavese. He has made 11 appearances so far.

López 23 year old Spanish left back in his 3rd season at Cavese. 24 appearances to date.

Claudio Terzi 23 year old central defender in his second season at Cavese. Made 34 appearances last season with one assist.

Emanuele Di Ciccio 20 year old central defender signed from Lazio. Has yet to make a senior appearance.

Fabio Pittilino 30 year old central defender in his third season here. He has made 184 appearances for six clubs scoring three times.

Marco Arno 32 year old right back in his third season with Cavese. He has made 222 appearances, 50 of them for us and has two goals and an assist for us.

Grégory Campi 31 year old French right winger is his third season with Cavese. He has made 68 appearances scoring 5 and assisting on 7.

Yann Synaeghel 30 year old midfielder signed in the off season from TNS where he made 19 appearances over two seasons assisting on three goals.

Mario Alfieri 33 year old attacking midfielder signed in the off season from Alto Adige for €1,000. He has made 254 career appearances scoring 21 goals.

Luigi Di Bonito 23 year old who can play either wing or up front. In his third season with Cavese he's made 53 appearances for us scoring 10 times.

Nicolò Ferri 19 year old right winger now in his 3rd season with Cavese. He has made eight appearances scoring one and assisting on two.

Andrea Costantini 22 year old midfielder in his third season with Cavese. He has made 49 appearances scoring once with five assists.

Carmine Cerchia 27 year old midfielder in his third season with us. His totals for us are 38 appearances, one goal and four assists.

Stefano Marsili 21 year old midfielder in his second season at Cavese. Last season hee made 16 appearances with one goal and one assist.

Gerardo Alfano 24 year old defensive midfielder in his fourth season with Cavese. He has made 37 appearances for the club and he scored three goals in 2004/05.

Gian Luca Accardi 20 year old left winger in his third season with us. He has made 29 appearances scoring once.

Andrea Capone 26 year old who is comfortable at left wing or forward. Signed from Cagliari in the off season he was on loan last at Treviso where he made 28 appearances scoring three times.

FORWARDS

Francesco Sanetti 28 year old striker in his third season with Cavese. Has made 58 appearances scoring 20 and assisting on two.

Alberto Castioni 23 year old striker in his second season at the club. Last season he made 32 appearances scoring 13 with two assists. Voted the 06/07 fans player of the year.

Francis Kelechi Ibekwei 23 year old Nigerian striker in his third season with Cavese. So far he has made 45 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals.

Marco Milton 20 year old striker signed in the off season from Udinese. He has yet to make a senior appearance.

David Solari 21 year old striker on a years loan from Napoli.

Sunday 19th August - Serie C Cup (group J)
Cavese v Brindisi
For our first competitive game of the season we entertained Serie C2/C side Brindisi. The squad I pick is (4-4-2) - Valentini - López, Terzi, Ndreka, Arno - Capone, Alfieri, Synaeghel, Di Bonito - Castioni, Solari. Subs: Kevelaerts, Di Ciccio, Dohet, Campi, Marsili, Sanetti, Milton.
The visitors took the lead after only 10 minutes when López dwelled too long on Solari 40 yard pass back to him and Maniero nipped in to take it into the area and slot it past Valenini. That was Brindisi's only shot of the first half as we swarmed all over them but our finishing was wayward, only 3 out of 12 shots hit the target.
Cavese had the fans tearing out their hair in the second half time and time we swept forward only to see the end shot drift wide, out of our 19 shots only three hit the target. Valentini conceded a 69th minute penalty but redeemed himself when he saved Maniero's weak effort. A heartbreaking loss but plenty of positives.

Potenza drew 1-1 with Salernitana in the other group J game leaving Brindisi group favourites with six points, Salernitana are second with 2 points from two games.
