Rangers pull off superb win

Rangers pulled off a fantastic 3-1 win over Chelsea at Ibrox to go through 3-2 on agg. Fernando Amorebieta and Andy Webster did brilliant marking jobs on Fernando Torres and Jermaine Defoe throughout the match and managed to defend the lead which had been established early on. The Gers were 2 up after 10 minutes, former Chelsea man Adrian Mutu proving Chelsea should have held onto him with a superb low strike and Valeri Bojinov, who played through the pain barrier, scored a perfect diving header.

Rangers 3-1 Chelsea - Ibrox - 3-2 Agg

Goals - Mutu, Bojinov, Pedersen
Injuries
MoM - Fernando Amorebieta(9) - Rangers

Rangers thrashed Kilmarnock at Ibrox to stretch their lead at the top to 18pts although Celtic do have two games in hand. Thomas Buffel scored just before half time which disrupted Killie and from then on Rangers dominated. Young Brian Gilmour got on the scoresheet as he looked promising in the center of the park.

Rangers sneak late equaliser to give hope

Andrew McKissock remained unbeaten against Real Madrid in his managerial career but was saved late on by Ian Murray. Raul, who came on for the injured Robinho, slotted home the opener after rounding Craig Gordon. That one goal seemed good enough for Real as Rangers failed to do much damage until Morten Gamst Pedersen came on wide left allowing Mutu to move up front in place of McCormack and Rangers looked more dangerous. Amorebieta's through ball found Murray in the 88th minute and Murray cooly slotted past Man of the Match Casillas.

Rangers 1-1 Real Madrid - Ibrox

Goals - Murray
Injuries
MoM - Iker Casillas(9) - Real Madrid
