In light of Terk comments, i would like to take back my previous statement. I now admit in hindsight it was wrong. I do hope that my comment has not driven someone away from this great if somewhat cynical forum of writers

I stand by my comment, harsh as it may be. I just think that this season summary would have fitted in better in the Anecdotes thread.
If the thread starter wants to make it into a story with all the nice little nooks and crannies that we appreciate, then I'll one of the first to applaude his efforts. Until then, my original question stands.
I really hope he stuffs this down my throat with a good story, I'm only too happy to eat my own words, if people can improve their things.

To be fair, axeman, it's not fit for the anecdotes thread as he clearly states an intention to post further about the game. The anecdotes thread is for one off posts |

In that case, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. But rest assured that if he keeps on just posting summaries with no real content, the flames will start to come. I'm not talking about myself here though. I've had more than my fill of flamewars elsewhere on the interweb |

Some constructive criticism United - it would be more readable if you thought about the format a little - the use of bold and italics for example. Hope we haven't put you off so keep posting.

| I completely agree with you.
To be fair, the likes of the don and associated idiots deserve a reasonable degree of aggression.
However, I think some users have jumped onto the flame anything that moves bandwagon. In all honesty I fail to see the problem with this story. It lacks a bit of detail but in terms of storyline it has pretty much the same amount as some other users bland dialogue in their stories.
Please carry on united_forever.

Thamkyou my friends. I will say to those who criticised me. I'm sorry that i am not up to scratch with the way you all like things in this forum. I am new to writing in these forums and am only beggining to understand how things should be done.
Many thanks to Terk for sticking up for me and i tell you this i will make a better effort in the next season's update.
Many thanks again.

After what I would describe as a successful season for myself, being my first season as manager of Manchester United, it was time to concentrate on the next season. The boys had been allowed holiday time for a while from the 10th May 2006 and weren’t due back until the 31st March 2006. I went home on that night of the 10th May feeling happy with the past season. That night I lay in my bed but could not sleep. I lay there for at least 2 hours before I moved. I obviously wasn’t going to fall asleep so I thought I might watch some tv instead. Making my way downstairs though I walk right past the tv room and went straight to my trophy room. Browsing around the room, I saw all my trophies I had won from my junior days to my days as a player in the lower professional Greek leagues. My career had been cut short due to a bad knee. After two knee reconstructions. I just couldn’t continue putting in the goals I did before, round to my trophies and honours I had won as a manager in those lower Greek leagues and the lower leagues of England. When the offer of an initial one year contract at Manchester United came, I could not refuse. My favourite team wanted me as their manager. And last year my first year with them I won my first two competition trophies with them, the Premier Division and the League (Carling) Cup. I even had four English Premier Division Manager of the Month trophies and the 2006 English Premier Division Manager of the year. Yet there were two trophies noteably missing. The FA Cup and the much coveted European Champions Cup. That was what was troubling me. What would the board say now that the season was over and two of the biggest trophies I should have won, I didn’t even make the final for.
My wife knew something was wrong. She had come downstairs to find me and when she found me in my trophy room, she knew exactly what was troubling me. She was quick to reassure me that the club was behind me, and even if they weren’t she was no matter what happened.
It turned out that she was right. During the break, the board called me in where David Gill, Martin Edwards, Malcolm Glazer and the rest of the board gave me their praises. “The Manchester United board have been very pleased with your management last season.”
What myself and my Manchester United squad wanted this season was to defend our Premier League title, defend our League Cup title, as well as win the FA Cup and the much coveted European Champions League. The challenge was now upon us.

Rep Power: 0 | Pre Season
The players reported back to training as required and got stuck straight into preparing for the season ahead
The transfer window opened but I saw no need to bring in new players. This season I would work with what I had already. The younger members of the team would be getting more of a run this season. That didn’t mean I wanted to sell players though. The first to go was Mikael Silvestre to Zaragoza for ₤825,000. I was also looking to offload Louis Saha and Roy Keane when I could so they were put on the transfer list and made to train and play with the reserves. Several players were promoted to my Youth squad but they did not all catch my eye, half stayed while I released the other half. Also with Brad Jones no longer happy at the club I also transfer listed him and moved him to the reserves promoting Ben Foster to be my number 3 keeper for the season ahead, after a year long successful loan at Watford.
We did however have two injured players in Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo after their World Cup campaigns ended early due to the respective injuries. They would both miss several vital matches at the beginning of the season, beginning with the Community Shield match with long time rivals Arsenal.
Our pre season friendly matches began with a tour Greece, beginning on the 1st July 2006 with a match against AE Larisa 1964 which we won 2-0, followed by a 1-0 win over Olympiakos, and a 1-1 draw with Panathinaikos. The tour ended with a 1-0 win over PAOK, and we were on our way back home.
