Monday 9th January 2006

We've been drawn against either Bristol City or Brentford in the 4th round of the FA cup.

Saturday 14th January 2006

Crystal Palace Vs Leeds United

This is the big one, If we win, Crystal palace are effectivly out of wining the championship, if we loose, its all even.

Lewis returns to left wing and Kelly at right back while Sullivan is relegated to the bench after Pidgeley's impressive debute. Ameobi is droped from the first team while he sorts out personal terms with Bristol as he prepares to go out on loan.

Palace take the lead after 13 mins when Halls cross found the head of Morrison at the far post to score. 3 mins later we replied, Cresswell with a cross to the box which found Einarsson who chiped it in to score. 22 mins and Lewis picked up a knock so on came Etherington. 37 mins and a long ball from Derry found Cresswell who ran into the box and put it past the keeper to make it 2-1.

Palce got one back when Derry brought down freeman in the box, who scored from the resulting penalty. Dieing seconds of the game and we steal the match, a great cross from Healy bounced around 4 players before finally finding Cresswell to tap away for his 2nd of the match

Crystal Palace 2 - 3 Leeds
Att: 22,929

We extend our lead at the top to 6 points while Cardiff move up to 3rd 5 points behind. Sheff Wed move back into the drop zone 3 points behind Brighton now.

Eddie Lewis' injury will keep him out for a week.

Saturday 21st January 2006

Leeds United Vs Cardiff City

Only 1 change Derry is rested so on comes Simon Walton instead.

Took us 51 mins to score, Davenports long ball finding Cresswell in the box who spun and chipped the ball into the net. 70 mins and Healy runs into the box, past 3 defenders and then shoots in the D to score a great goal from 20 yards out.

Saturday 28th January 2006

Leeds United Vs Brentford - FA Cup 4th round

Bakke is away on international duty so Douglas starts while Derry re-takes his spot in midfield.

Eddie Lewis gave us the lead with a spectacular 30 yard freekick into the right hand side of the goal after 36 minutes. The lead was doubled when Blakes ball found Creswell in the middle of the defence with only the keeper to beat and made it 2-0 after 51 mins.

Brentford got one back when Kelly's poor clearance found Tillen on the wing who crossed to Rankin to head into the back of the net to make it 2-1. It could of been 3 but Blakes penalty was saved by Bankhole.

Leeds 2 - 1 Brenford
Att: 18,070

Monday 30th January 2006

We've been drawn against fellow championship side Ipswich in the 5th round of the FA Cup.

Tuesday 31st January 2006

Sheffield United vs Leeds United
Another big derby match as we face Sheffield united.

Bakke returns in replace of Douglas while Eddie Lewis is rested to give Matt Etherington a full runout on his last game for the club.

We made a good start, Cresswell dodging 3 players to score after 33 mins. But sheffield equalised with a "what happened next?" goal after 73 mins.

An Etherington pass found Hao Haidong 40yards from goal but for some reason keeper Pidgeley had come out for it, so an easy open goal for them to score from.

Sheffield had to play the last 10 mins with 10 men after Morgan was sent off but it didn't make much of a difference.

Sheff Utd 1 - 1 Leeds Utd
Att: 30,875

So at the end of the month the table looks like this

Saturday 4th February 2006

Leeds Vs Coventry City

Our first match without Matthew Etherington but not really many changes, Eddie Lewis returns to the left wing spot.

After a quite first half Derry gave us the lead with a stunning freekick after 47mins only for Coventry to equalise through Morrell after 65.

Bakke was sent off after 78mins for 2 yellow cards. And we missed an 80th minute penalty.

All in all we drew a game we should have won.

Leeds 1 - 1 Coventry
Att: 25,445

Saturday 11th February 2006

Watford Vs Leeds Unite

Its top vs bottom today with a bit of a winger crisis. Bakke is out with his suspension today while Eddie Lewis picked up a knock and will be out for 3 weeks leaving Douglas and Wright to take their spots and Stone comes onto the bench.

Blake started us off well after 3 mins, dodging his man and ran into the box giving the keeper no chance and making it 1-0. 15 mins and Einarsson made a great run but was blocked by the keeper, only for the loose ball to find Cresswell to slot into the back of the net.

Einarsson picked up a knock so was replaced by Healy who moved up from with Blake dropping back

Watford 0 - 2 Leeds
Att: 11,891

No change in the bottom 3 but Prestons 2-0 win continued their impressive run lately and moved them into 3rd only 4 points behind 2nd place Palace.

Tuesday 14th February 2006

Leeds United Vs Ipswich Town

The injury problems contiune with Einarsson out and now Shaun Derry too. Walton moves in for Derry while Bakke back from suspension moves into the AMC spot.

We took an early lead thanks to Blakes converted pen after 2 mins. Then doubled our lead in the last 2 mins when Bakke lost the wall from a Kellys freekick to put it away.

We spent the last 15mins with 10 men after Stone took a knock after we used all 3 subs.

Leeds 2 - 0 Ipswich
Att 23,276

Thursday 16th February 2006

We complete what is possibly the biggest loan move of the season by bringing back Robbie Fowler on loan for 2 month. Robbie join Leeds from Liverpool in 2001 for 11 million only to leave for City for 3 milion in 2002. His contract also run out in the summer and i'm hoping to pick him up on a free.

Sunday 19th February 2006

Leeds United Vs Ispwich Town - FA Cup 5th Round

Following our 2-0 warm up earlier in the week we felt hopeful about today.
Robbie Fowler is cuptied so will have to wait for his debute so an un-changed team for us.

Our first goal came from a Kelly cross which found an unmarked Blake to make it 1-0 14mins in and it was 2-0 with Wrights freekick finding the head of Douglas.

58 mins and we were 3-0 up. Blakes penalty was saved, as was his follow up, but Cresswell got the loose ball to make it 3-0. 62 mins and it was all over as Wrights corner found the head of Bischoff to put it away at the far post.

Leeds 3 - 0 Ipswich
Att: 18,384

Our injury Crisis contiued though as Healy picked up a knock near the end and will be out for 4 weeks

Monday 20th February 2006

The draw for the Quater finals of the FA cup was made and of the draws we got the easiest, despite facing Bolton or Charlton, we missed playing Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United.

However the pick of the FA cup will definatly be Tottenham Vs Arsenal at highbury.

Wednesday 22nd February 2006

Stoke City Vs Leeds United

Healy's injury leave the door open for Robbie Fowler but he will not start today, only beacuse this is his first match for a while, so he will be on the bench.

It was a bad start Russell running onto a a Stoke clearence to score.

But 72 mins in and the Fowler show began, first from a penalty, then 80 mins in he intercepted a passback to the keeper and put it into the empty goal.

Stoke 1 - 2 Leeds
Att: 11,865

Sunday 25th February 2006

Leeds United Vs Plymouth Argyle

Kelly and Wright are suspended for 5 yellow cards so our Crisis deepens.

Blake moves to the AMC spot with Douglas moving to left wing and Bakke to right wing. Gregan goes to right back and Fowler starts up front with Cresswell.

Thinks were made easier for us after 36 mins when David Norris was sent off for 2 yellow cards.

63 mins and it was over as Paul Connoly was sent off aswell.

Leeds 3 - 0 Plymough
Att: 24,324

Sunday 26th February 2006

Liverpool have won the Carling cup with a 4-0 win over Middlesbrough

end of the month and the table looks like this

Saturday 4th March 2006

Millwall Vs Leeds United

Eddie Lewis and Gary Kelly return to the squad that is otherwise unchanged.

Cresswell scored our first after a nice overhead flick by Fowler set him up with only the keeper to beat after 22 mins. Blake. doubled our score when he latched onto a Lewis pass into the box to make it 2-0. Millwall got one back in the 76th min when Livermoore found Macaliister unmarked in the box to score.

The match was over after 81mins though when Wrights ball found Blake, the keeper deflected it for Robbie Fowler to pounce on.

Millwall 1 - 3 Leeds
Att: 11,575

Sunday 12th March 2006

Southampton Vs Leeds

The injury Crisis is starting to simmer out now, Cresswell is out for a day with a bug, but Healy returns to the first team, meanwhile Derry is back but looks tired still so he will be on the bench.

Not the best start, Rossi scoring after 7 mins. But we peged one right back with a spectacular 30 yard shot from Blake.

39mins in and Davenport is falsely accussed in my eyes of a foul in the box, thankfully Rossi's penalty is saved.

Southampton took the lead again thanks to a Mcintyre goal on the box edge and were 3-1 up after 68 mins when Prutton's cross found ex Leeds player Pugh at the far post. 89 mins and a long ball from another ex player Crainey found Jones 1 on 1 with the keeper to score.

We came back right away with a late concelation goal. Hardings ball finding Bakke in the box but it was too little to late in the end.

Southampton 4 - 2 Leeds

Most of the squad is back from injury now though Harding was injured in training and out for a month so Marques goes left back while Einarsson goes back to AMC with Blake up front with Fowler and Healy and Cresswell on the bench

The first goal came in the 53rd minute when a Lewis sent a 40 yard cross to the head of Blake to score. 6 mins later it was 2-0 Derry's clearence finding Healy to run onto and put past the keeper.

Leeds 2 - 0 Reading
Att: 31,332

The 3 points guarentee us a playoff spot with only 7 games to go, its still anyone game for a playoff spot for the premiership.

Wednesday 22nd March 2006

Leeds United Vs Bolton Wanderers - FA Cup Q/Finals

This was the big one, and we have problems. Fowler is cuptied and Healy is injured. Oh and Lewis is on international duty. Douglas moves to left wing while Rob Hulse comes onto the sub bench.

The only goal of the game was a spectacular strike outside the box by on loan Japanese midfielder Hidetoshi Nakata. We tried our hardest to get back in the but goal just wouldn't come. Nether the less i'm proud of the lads.

Leeds 0 - 1 Bolton
Att: 27,929

Saturday 25th March 2006

Wolverhampton Wanderers Vs Leeds United

Our final match of the month takes us to 13th placed Wolves with both Robbie Fowler and Eddie Lewis returning

First goal came in the 22nd min, Einarsson nodding on Lewis' cross to Blake to score. Then just before half time Bakke played a great ball to Cresswell to wrap up. a 76th min penalty from Fowler finished the match off for us.

Wolves 0 - 3 Leeds
Att: 23,936

With Palace loosing today that puts us 13 points ahead and Preston only 5 behind.

Saturday 1st April 2006

I was called up to Ken Bates office this morning. I was scheduled to have talks with Bakke about his contract but seems like the boss had other ideas.

"You wanted to see me boss?" I asked. "Yes i do, i want you to sign this for me." He replied

I looked at the sheet of paper, it was a contract for someone, i wondered who we were signing. "Who are i signing?" i asked. "Well if he wants to stay here for another 2 years, his name is Martin McFly"

"I don't quite follow Ken" i said looking puzzled. "Its a contract for you, i'd like you to stay with the club for another 2 years atleast and if u don't sign it you won't get any of this." He joked holding up a bottle of Champeign.

Well when the boss puts it like that, who can refuse?

shouldn't really be a challenge now but nice to get some support

Saturday 1st April 2006

Leeds United Vs Derby County

Healy returns to the first team starting up front with Blake. If we win and Preston loose we will be off to the promise land of the Premiership.

We didn't have to wait long for the lead either. Bakke crossed a great ball to the head of Einarsson to score after only 1 minute and 3 seconds.

38 mins and it was 2 Lewis' cross finding the head of Einarsson to knock it down to the feet of Blake who put it away. To finish off in inhjury time Marques long free kick found Bakke's head in the box to make it 3-0

Leeds 3 - 0 Derby
Att: 26,397

The stadium was filled with cheering from the Leeds fans as the announcer gave a run through of other results

"Coventry 4 QPR 0. Crystal Palace 4............... Preston North End 1"

The rest of the results were drowned out by fans and players alike. Leeds United were going to the Premiership and no one could stop us now. The fans ran onto the pitch cheering and dancing with the players while i made a retreat for the changing rooms. Even in there all i could hear were chants of "Premiership, we're havin a laugh" over and over.

Unfortunatly the next day wasn't quite as good, they players found me and before i knew it we were on our 4th bottle of champeign. I hate hangovers.

So the board and the fans were happy. But i wasn't, there was still something i wanted this year. Silverware and i plan to get it by taking the Championship title.

Sheffield Wednesday Vs Leeds United

The Yorkshire derby and once again it has the chance to be a big day. Should we win today we will claim the Championship title.

Eddie Lewis once again picked up a knock and so will be out Douglas takes his spot.

Great start again, Bakkes ball infront of Einarsson to run onto and put away after 1 min, but Burnts free kick in the 20th minute made it 1-1. It could of gone either way but Sheffield made a silly mistake in the 91st min bringing down Fowler in the box and giving Kelly the chance to score from the penalty that followed.

Sheffield do no look like a team that is struggling to survive, but as they say "football is a funny old game."

Sheff Wed 1 - 2 Leeds

Naturally it was a re-run of last week, sept this time i was the one partying the most.

I do hate hangovers.

Leeds United Vs Keicester City

With the championship sorted it was time to enjoy football.

I decided to give some of the non starting 11 players a bit of a runout.

Not really too much of exciting match, but atleast some of my players got their fitness up

Leeds 0 - 0 Leicester

Monday 17th April 2006

Luton Town Vs Leeds United

Another training match, this time Tomi Ameobi returns from his loan to start up front though.

Luton stuck first with a Don Hutchinson freekick sailing into the far left corner of goal before Morgan gave the home side a 2-0 lead.

We struck back streight away with a Lewis free kick and 10 mins from time Fowler struck to make the final score 2-2

Luton 2 - 2 Leeds

Saturday 22nd April 2006

Leeds United Vs Norwich City

Back to full strength for todays match.

A pretty even match untill the 43nd minute when Tabbs freekick was punched away by Pidgley but only as far as Fleming who taps it in. However a 58th minute penalty from Blake ensures we share the spoils.

Leeds 1 - 1 Norwich
Att: 23,664

Saturday 30th April 2006

Final day of the month and the season, and its a big day for the other clubs. We face Brigton, knowing if we win and our partners at sheffield Wednesday win, Brigton will go down and not them.
Meanwhile Leicester, Millwall, Sheffield United, Cardiff, Southampton, Reading and Norwich all have a shot of making the final 3 play off spots.

Brighton and Hove Albion Vs Leeds United

Not much to say, a pretty boring game and one that ensured Brigtons survival in the Championship

Brigton 0 - 0 Leeds
