But Denmark is a part of Scandinvia..

Finland, Iceland and so on only gets counted sometimes because we share "strong social and historical ties" ..

What that means is basicly that Finland used to belong to Sweden (before the became independent) and Iceland used to belong to Norway i think it was.. (and so on)

Thanks for your comments guys. According to my research "The Scandinavian countries are in the present day understood as Norway, Sweden and Denmark, even if the latter actually does not reside on the Scandinavian Peninsula. The term the Nordic countries is used unambiguously for the Scandinavian kingdoms of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and the republics of Finland and Iceland." (source Wikipedia). So I guess I should have used Nordic and not Scandinavian but I used some poetic licence.

Great thread, loved reading this.

Geographically, Denmark and Iceland aren't part of Scandinavia. But politically they are.

Regarding the icelandic club HK. It means Handknattleiksfélag Kópavogs or Handballclub of Kópavogur. Handball is a stupid boring sport which is popular in Iceland.

Couldn't agree more. If someone wants to play as either HK or Breiðablik I recommend editing them to be arch rivals...which they are. HK are from east kópavogur, Breidablik from the west.
There used to be another team called IK, played in green/white hhoops like Celtic. They went bankrupt and all the players went to HK and formed a football team under that name.
Not unusual here, the biggest team in Iceland is FH and that stands for Fimleikafelag Hafnarfjardar or Gymnastic Association of Hafnarfjordur.
HK have recently sold their biggest star Rúrik GÃ*slason to Charlton. Saw that guy play against Völsungur last summer and he's got potential all right.
