Thanks for your answers mav, so you only use default mainly with a 442 or do you change your mentality for different games? And did you really manage all your reserve game? ANd your brilliant reserve results were more down to them being so good rather than complicated tactics? Thanks mate keep it up!

[i] I've got a 4-4-2 set up with a defensive menality and no forward runs that I'm supposed to use late in games but I often can't be bothered to swap them over. most of my reserve players are capable of playing in the first team which isn't the case with a lot of the AI controlled teams, they use a lot of U18 players and 'greys'

The reserves scored a easy 2-0 victory at Charlton reserves with goals from Baidoo and Donnelly. Saturday 18th April 2009 Queens Park Rangers v Charlton Athletic
Barclays Premiership
The message today is that we need to get our season back on track against 15th placed Charlton. All the hard work is in danger of being thrown away by a run of five games without a win. Mtiliga comes in at left back while I hand a Premiership debut to England U21 Dominic Shimmin in place of suspended Salli. Loro returned to partner Benjani.
It was an explosive first 10 minutes as three goals went in quickly. Darren Bent opened the scoring on three minutes after he picked up Loro's wayward pass, the defense was caught going the wrong way and Bent was able to chip the stranded Lancaster. Rangers roared back and minutes later Benjani rose above a crowd at the far post to power home van Bronckhorst's deep cross. Charlton were reeling and two minutes later Mtiliga curled one into the area and Benjani repeated the feat. Charlton never really found a way past a solid R's defense while we weren't very creative.
Just before the hour Rangers suffered a blow when Bircham was stretched off with a season ending torn calf muscle. Time was ticking away when Jonathan Fortune was robbed at left back by Benjani who flicked it across for Loro to slide it in and confirm the three points. QPR 3-1 Charlton
QPR scorers: Benjani 6, 8, Loro 76
Charlton scorers: Bent 3
Att: 26,284 Results:
Bolton 0-0 Arsenal
Leeds 1-1 Southampton
Norwich 1-1 Everton
Notts Forest 0-2 Man City
Nothing was settled in the Premiership but there was plenty of movement elsewhere. Wigan and Watford confirmed promotion to the Premiership, Preston were promoted to the Championship while Doncaster fell out the other end. Burnley, Yeovil and Stockport were relegated from League One while Carlisle won the League Two championship, Lincoln and Notts County won promotion behind them.

Liverpool beat Middlesbrough 3-0 to close up to a point behind us in 7th with a game in hand. Wednesday 22nd April 2009
The UEFA Champions League Final will be between Aston Villa who put out Lazio 4-3 on aggregate and Bayern Munich who needed penalties to knock out Juventus after both semi-final legs finished 0-0.
Manchester United retook second spot after a 1-0 win over Blackburn. Newcastle lost 3-1 at Fulham in the other game to leave them just two points ahead of us. Chelsea are 10 points behind leaders Arsenal with three games in hand.
Emad Moteb scored both goals in the reserves 2-0 win over Ipswich but both Shimmin and Lacombe sustained injuries that will probably rule them out of the rest of the season. Thursday 23rd April 2009
Real Madrid edge out Ajax 4-3 on aggregate in the UEFA Cup semi-final and will face Tottenham in the final after they beat Liverpool 5-3 on aggregate. Saturday 25th April 2009 Blackburn Rovers v Queens Park Rangers
Barclays Premiership
Salli replaced the injured Shimmin as we travelled to 12th placed Rovers. Pennant returned to the right wing while Elberkani replaced the injured Bircham
Salli took just six minutes to pick up his third red card of the season but the R's, reverting to three at the back again held firm and took the lead on 18 minutes when Loro ran the length of the Blackburn half before powerfully firing home. Rovers were reduced to 10 men as well when Ruben became the second player sent off for a professional foul three minutes later but Hugo Viana levelled it as the R's defense backed off him, he unleashed a 30 yard rocket into the roof of the net. Sandro Gomes was the third player to walk as he brought down Loro in the area. Robert Olejnik produced a superb save to deny Ciullo from the spot but could do nothing two minutes later when Benjani flicked Mtiliga's free kick into the net.
Two minutes into the second half Loro had the ball in the net but it was ruled narrowly offside. Against the run of play the nine men of Blackburn equalised on the hour when Viana’s telling ball found Kristiansen all alone on the edge of the area and he lashed it home. Rangers bombarded the Rovers goal for the last half hour but just couldn't find a way past Olejnik. Blackburn 2-2 QPR
Blackburn scorers: Viana 26, Kristiansen 60
QPR scorers: Loro 18, Benjani 42

Bolton sunk into the Championship as Everton put seven past them but West Ham can still mathematically catch Southampton or Forest who shipped six at Stamford Bridge. Results:
Chelsea 6-1 Notts Forest
Everton 7-0 Bolton
Man City 1-4 Fulham
Middlesboro 0-1 Norwich
Aldershot slipped back into the Conference while Hartlepool won promotion to the Championship. Sunday 26th April 2009
Arsenal came from two behind to draw with Villa while Tottenham's win at Charlton left them second just three points behind their North London rivals. Liverpool's win at West Ham took them a point above us and condemned the Hammers to the final relegation spot. Results:
Arsenal 3-3 Aston Villa
Charlton 0-3 Tottenham
Newcastle 0-0 Leeds
West Ham 0-2 Liverpool
Wigan have lifted the Championship title two seasons after finishing bottom of the Premiership but Leicester slide into League One. Monday 27th April 2009
Chelsea's 1-0 win at Blackburn keeps them in with an outside chance of retaining their title while Man Utd's 1-1 draw at Southampton ends their title challenge. Wednesday 29th April 2009
Chelsea win 3-1 at Villa to move second, two points behind Arsenal with a game in hand. Arsenal's last fixture is at Forest while Chelsea face Charlton at home on Friday before ending the season at West London neighbours Fulham.
Liverpool's 4-1 win at Forest means the highest we can finish is sixth if Newcastle fail to win their final game against Man City but we may need to beat Southampton by four goals if Newcastle draw.
Lopes and Donnelly score as the reserves beat Cardiff reserves 2-1 and retain the English Reserves Group 2 title once again.
With my bet comfortablely won and my time at QPR over if I want I have been bitten by the management bug and am wondering just how far I could take a club? Having taken Yo-Yo club QPR to the Premiership again and not just survive there but take them to the brink of Europe, Could I go one better with a club that has never played in the Premiership? Friday 1st May 2009
Chelsea win their third match of the week when Gudjohnsen scores the only goal of the game against Charlton in the 56th minute. With one game left they have come from 4th to first in the last two weeks.

The first manager to pay the price for failing is Cardiff's Steve Burton who led his side to a disappointing 19th place in the Championship. Queens Park Rangers v Southampton
Barclays Premiership
We finish the season entertaining the 16th place side. De Silva replaced the suspended (again!) Salli while Paul Bignot makes his Premiership debut at left back for the injured Mtiliga. Joos van Barneveld makes his first start of the season while Pat Kanyuka and Scott Donnelly get their first seats on the bench in the Premiership.
This match generally had an end of term feeling about it with no-one really wanting to be here. The R's struck first just after the first quarter of an hour when Shittu's long clearance caught the Saints pushed up too far and Loro ran on behind the defense to bury his 16th of the season. Ten minutes before the break, van Barneveld made a hash of a backpass, Bignot couldn't reach it in time and Matthew Amoah nipped in to drive it low past Lancaster. On the stroke of halftime Lancaster did wonders to push out Santos flick on from a corner but Amoah smashed home the rebound.
Rangers finished the season with another draw though as they grabbed the equaliser on the hour. Pennant swung in a deep cross and Luismi Loro got across his marker to power in the final goal of R's season. QPR 2-2 Southampton
QPR scorers: Loro 17, 58
Soton scorers: Amoah 35, 45
Att: 26,259
The draw meant we finished the season in 7th, four places and 12 points more than last season. Arsenal struck the first blow in the title race, Defoe netting after three minutes and repeating the feat on the half hour but it was to no avail as Carlos Tevez's 52nd minute penalty gave Chelsea the three points and the title at Fulham. Results:
Aston Villa 1-1 Everton
Bolton 0-0 Middlesboro
Fulham 0-1 Chelsea
Liverpool 2-1 Charlton
Man Utd 2-0 Leeds
Newcastle 0-1 Man City
Norwich 2-1 West Ham
Notts Forest 1-2 Arsenal
Tottenham 2-0 Blackburn

At the annual awards dinner Spurs Mirko Vucinic won the Premiership Players' Player of the Year award, Man Utd's Coelho won the Young Player of the Year, Didier Drogba won the Player of the Year and Jose Mourinho the Manager of the Year. The Top Scorer award went to Vucinic for his 31 goals; our only mention was Benjani did brilliant ly to come runner-up in the Player of the Year award.
Mirko Vucinic couldn't receive his awards as he was staring in the UEFA Cup Final in Porto where he opened the scoring for Spurs against Real Madrid after only three minutes. Robbie Keane's 61st minute strike sealed a 2-0 win for Tottenham.
Despite meeting with Cardiff chairman Sam Hammam they have given the managers job to Iain Dowie. English Reserves Group 2 Final Table 2008-09
